  1. "Your PC/Device needs to be repaired" Error 0xc000007b

Today my graphics driver (AMD Radeon) decided to update, I have AMD Radeon Dual-X R9 280 Sapphire. During the update, the screen started flickering (like it always does with updates) but I accidentally clicked the screen capture button so the Lightshot program started a screen capture layout, once I excited out of that the screen completely went black, I waited for a minute or so but the display didn't return, so the silly me brought up the idea of restarting it...while the driver was probably still updating. After the restart, I get this following screen: Imgur so at this moment I knew I interrupted the graphics driver and now there's something wrong with it. None of the troubleshoot options Windows provided is working (the enter and f8 options) as it keeps failing to load the driver. I tried removing the graphics card and using on-board graphics, but the same screen appears... It seems like it's an operating system error now and not hardware. I can give it back to my PC manufacturer, but it would take them weeks to return it, plus I'm worried they would format it which is the last thing I'd want. I have the official graphics driver CD, the Windows 7 CD and Windows 10 Recovery tools on a USB stick if that would help, or perhaps I can do something in the BIOS?
Any help is appreciated, I really screwed up this time!

    :)

Your PC needs to be repaired. A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed.

So, I reinstalled windows 10 on my Asus L402S, but after my second boot I face a blue screen saying that my PC needs to be repaired and that a required device isn't connected and so on.

I don't know what to do.

I would really appreciate any help.

    Hi ivankhoury,

    Welcome to the 10forums *Smile

I would recommend to first follow this tutorial, it covers issues that are mostly (if not always) occuring with this problem.

If you have tried everything in the tutorial and the issue isn't resolved, please let me know.

  5. The Recovery Tools do not even seem to recognize there's an OS installed...also I apparently need to be logged in as an Administrator in order to run msconfig from cmd as it didn't allow me. This really seems like a dead end to me! *Sad If everything fails and I must do a Windows re-install or build rollback, is it possible to first access my files and take what's important for example using Ubuntu/Linux?

It is possible to use Ubuntu or Linux or any other Windows recovery media to backup your files, I recommend to use a USB for this kind of tasks.

Could you tell me how you open the command prompt?

  7. I booted Windows into the recovery (that is in a USB stick), when it reached the language and keyboard layout screen, i clicked next, then instead of install Windows I went to "Repair" and then "Troubleshoot" then Command Prompt.

Command prompt from the troubleshooting options is automatically launched with administrator rights, if it says that is not the case then there is more going on. Wat may be going on is however difficult to tell.

  9. Maybe because Windows doesn't seem to recognize an OS installed? I mean, when I was in the Troubleshoot screen and clicked on "System Image", it said that I need to choose which operating system I'm trying to troubleshoot, could it be that? Or something in the BIOS not giving the USB the rights?

  10. Also, I have a Laptop running the same build of Windows 10 (all up-to-date) as the PC that needs repairing, can this be useful? Like if I make a recovery image from this Windows and use it to fix the other?

With a 'recovery image' you mean a bootable recovery media I assume? If so it may be useful.

    Please do the following,
    • Choose 'install' when booting from the media,
    • Continue the process UNTIL the partitions part,
    • Make a photo of the partitions,
    • Exit the installl process

Try to download and mount this ISO (Macrium Recovery) onto a USB and boot from it.
After loading choose 'Fix Windows boot problems' in the 'restore' tab at the left side, see this post

If any issue with driver loading occurs, you can ignore it.

  14. Are you sure I can trust this ISO to boot in my computer? Also, do I have to do it with Rufus?

I use it myself, it's from my Onedrive *Wink

No, all you need is a working system to download, after download mount the ISO and copy/paste all files to a USB. Nothing else needs to be done, it is literally copying and pasting the files from the mounted directory to a bootable USB.
