Windows 10: Your Phone App - Says on phone it's connected, but on PC still says "Check Your Phone"

I can't get the Your Phone app to work on my PC. I'll go through the setup process on my PC and also my Android phone, and eventually hit the point where the PC says it's going to send a notification to my phone for permissions. The notification arrives after about a ten second delay. I hit "Allow", then my phone says "Your phone and PC are linked". But when I go to my PC, the your phone app says "Check your phone, we need your permission to connect etc.". If I click the resend notification button, my phone will eventually beep again, but no matter how many times I hit "Allow" on my phone, the PC version just isn't connecting.

I've tried removing my phone as a device from my account, reinstalling it on my phone (clearing cache, etc.), also I've tried resetting it in the app settings on my PC. Nothing works. I always get to this point and it doesn't connect. Both devices are on the same wifi on the 2.4 GHz band.

Phone - Pixel 2

PC - Matebook X Pro.

Can anyone help me get connected?

New Phone Insider app for Windows 10 preview for Phones?

A Windows Phone app from Microsoft called Phone Insider has been discovered today. The app could possibly signal that the company is preparing to launch its rumored preview version of Windows 10 for smartphones.

The short description of the app simply says:

"The Phone Insider application provides registered Windows Insiders the ability to receive pre-release OS updates on their phone, directly from Microsoft. For more information about registering and becoming a Windows Insider visit http://insider.windows.com."

Unfortunately, at the moment, there's no way to sign into the app, which would suggest that it's not ready for the public to fully check out.

Microsoft already has a Preview for Developers app for Windows Phone 8.1 that allows users to download new builds of the OS before they are made available to wireless carriers. This new app would seem, at first glance, to be something different. However, we stress that Microsoft has yet to officially state they are launching a preview version of Windows 10 for smartphones. So take this speculation (and everyone else's) with a grain of salt.

Microsoft has announced a new round of layoffs impacting its mobile business, but in an email sent to employees this morning, Terry Myerson, Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group, says that this isn’t by any means the end of the Windows Phone platform.

Myerson explains that the company remains committed to supporting Windows handsets in the future, adding that although “the phone success has been limited,” the company needs to “be more focused in the phone hardware efforts.”

Although Myerson hasn’t specifically said it, today’s changes could pave the way for the Surface Phone, a device that’s expected to see daylight in the spring of 2017 and run Windows 10 Mobile. The Microsoft executive reiterates the message offered last week, after the sale of the feature phone business, hinting that no new Lumia models would be launched, but suggesting that something “great” would indeed come at some point.

“We always take care of our customers, Windows phones are no exception. We will continue to update and support our current Lumia and OEM partner phones, and develop great new devices,” he says.
