Windows 10: Your phone companion not calling

The Your Phone companion app on my laptop used to work before with no bother. One day, it just gave up on me. Whenever I call somebody, the bluetooth stops working on my laptop and my call is automatically returned to my phone's built in microphone and speaker. This is really stressful as making and receiving calls on my PC was really convenient.


Laptop: Lenovo Thinkpad T440s Windows 10

Phone: Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 Android 9


I have tried resetting my PC and my phone but the issue still persists.

Has anyone been able to get phone companion to work

Hi,

I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the Phone companion app and check if you are facing the issue

To uninstall the phone companion app please follow the steps below:

• 
  Type phone companion in the
  search box.
  
• 
  Right click on
  phone companion and click on uninstall.
  

Once it is uninstalled, you can reinstall it from windows store.

Your Phone App: Ringtone and Call quality terrible?

Windows 10 version: 1909 (Build: 18363.815)
Your Phone App version: 1.20041.85.0
Your Phone Companion Link to Windows app version: 1.20041.82.0
Link to Windows Service version: 1.0.5.2.30

Samsung Galaxy S10: Android 10 / OneUI 2.1

It worked fine using my Surface Pro 4 but on my new Surface Pro X the Ringtone and Call Quality through the Your Phone app are terrible: Constant crackling, tapping whatever you want to call it. Kind of like coins being dropped.

All other aspects of Your Phone work wonderfully.

I've tried:

Phone:

1. Bluetooth: Unpairing the Surface Pro X
2. Your Phone Companion App: Clearing Application Data/Cache

Surface Pro X:

1. Settings -> Bluetooth: Unpairing the phone
2. Settings -> Phone: Unlinking the phone
3. Settings -> Apps: Your Phone App: Repair and Reset

I then set it all up again which went through all fine.

I've also tried:

1. Device Manager -> All Bluetooth Drivers -> Update Driver
2. Paired a Bluetooth speaker to my Surface Pro X. This works fine.

I suspect the issue is related to the Your Phone App and Bluetooth but don't know where to check next?

Because the crackling noise seems to be bluetooth related.

Surfshark Blocks Your Phone Companion - Can't Whitelist?

I've installed Surfshark VPN on my PC and phone. Naturally, this breaks the connection between my phone and PC using the Your Phone / Your Phone Companion apps.

Surfshark tech support says to whitelist the Your Phone Companion app. However, Your Phone Companion does not show up in the list of applications, either from within Surfshark or in the main Android applications list. (And yes, it is installed, before anyone
asks. It was working fine before installing Surfshark.)

Any suggestions?
