Z Book BSOD with Second SSD Drive

    Hi all

I have an issue with an HP Z Book. It is a new Generation 6 device and came with a pre-installed second SSD drive.

All worked fine until I tried to put our corporate image onto the primary OS SSD.

Firstly, the new OS installed onto the secondary SSD rather than the primary.

So I disconnected/removed the secondary, recreated the partition on the primary and loaded our stock OS.

The machine now works absolutely fine, as long as I do not try to re-introduce the second SSD drive.

If I reinstall this, the machine boots up OK for a second or two and then BSOD's.

Can anyone suggest the reason for this issue - the BSOD message reported a kernel error.

Any ideas on steps to take to resolve this?

    Thanks

    Phil

    :)

  2. Memory card drive z has an X and cannot be accessed

I followed your steps and now the Z (memory card) drive is gone from the menu list. The drive slot still lights up on the computer when I put in a memory card.

  3. I am unable to access the Local Drive Z. Please help.

Drive Z is not a malware it's a Microsoft hidden partition for booting the computer, for some reason it becomes visible at times. You can try rebooting your computer and see if it hides Drive Z again. If not, you can try the following steps
    below:

    • Type CMD on start menu to open Command Prompt.
    • Type Diskpart and hit Enter.
    • Click Yes if you are prompted with UAC (User Account Control)
      dialog-box.
    • Type List Volume and hit Enter.
    • Select the drive that you want to hide, type Select Volume Z
or Select Volume 8 (change 8 with the volume number of Drive Z)
    • Type Remove Letter Z.

Let us know how it goes.
