Windows 10: why i will never pay for windows again

We have here a computer which runs a very complicate algorithm of aligning DNA sequences with enzymes to calculate possible candidates for an anti-cancer therapy for a particular genome. This morning were almost 2 weeks since it was running and still had some to go, however this stupid OS, although i have deactivated all the options for autoupdate, decided to reset the computer no matter what. Probably for another useless cortana or internet explorer update which we never use.



When the dialog box appeared, i have tried to contact microsoft. There are 2 local phone numbers. First had a menu of 35 seconds, but when it was supposed to pass the call to a representative... disconnected after a minute. I tried again, and got disconnected again after the same delay.

Ok, second phone number. Long and complicated menu, got all the suggestions about trying forums etc. then finally press zero to talk to a representative. 3 minutes on hold, then disconnected.


Tried the ms support page. First, "ms virtual agent" suggesting 3 topics way outside the subject. I continue to press "talk to a real person". Finally, someone called John Neil B. has joined the chat. Excellent. I tell him about my problem, explain the emergency, and ask how to cancel the update. He thinks for 2-30 seconds, then asks : "Do you mean to say that it's the password on your computer or your Microsoft account ?"


I am beginning to understand. I reply : "did you even read what i have said ?" at which point the chat cycles 20-30 seconds and... "I'm sorry, but I'm having a technical problem. Please use the options shown below to get in touch with Microsoft Customer Support."

Robot.

Ok, maybe next time they really put me in touch with a real person. I press "talk to a person", wait again, then the same introduction. "welcome to support, how can i help". I ask directly " are you a real person or a stupid robot ?" at which point i get another few seconds break and the very human reply :


"You are now chatting with a real I'm sorry, but I'm having a technical problem. Please use the options shown below to get in touch with Microsoft Customer Support."


Needless to say, the computer rebooted and we have lost a couple weeks of work.

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
