Windows 10: Files Explorer does not locate documents by the words in them

Sir/Madam,


My Files Explorer has stopped reading documents to locate content word in them, which is essential for my work. It locates files until a certain date, which is about July last year and the new files are not read. I have many Word files which I need to locate which ones have certain names in them... but it is just impossible now.


Is there anything I could do to fix it?

Where exactly did you transfer those files to on your new PC?

In Word, go to File

On the recent list, note down the location of one of those files

Open Windows File Explorer

Navigate to that location, then copy all files form that location into your Documents folder . . .

In the past year or so I've noticed another quirk where a downloaded Word document or other Office document won't open regardless of the steps I take to open them. After deleting the file and re-downloading the document it opens without issue. I've been using Chrome almost exclusively so I'm not sure if I've experienced this with Explorer or Firefox. So one last step to try might be to obtain another copy of your files if they are being generated and fetched externally to your system (ie. try downloading them again as the file might have simply been corrupted).
