Windows 10: "USB Device Not Recognized" error over and over and over again

    "USB Device Not Recognized" error over and over and over again


    This has happened to me before after a major Windows update. I am running Windows 10 and I am getting the error message "USB Device Not Recognized" as a pop up and an audible (super annoying) sound every minute. The last time it happened it was my printer. I ended up having to move USB ports and that solved the problem. The problem may be that I recently cleaned up the computer by blowing dust out and replugged all my stuff back in and used the offending USB port.


    My issue is that I cannot figure out which device it is erroring out on. The error shows up on Device Manager under USB Bus Controllers and then Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). I have tried uninstalling that device (by right clicking and then uninstall) and restarting the computer. The error just comes back. I have also gone through every single thing attached to my computer and searched for updated drivers and they are all current.


    That sound is driving me crazy. I'm sure that it is a driver that just hasn't updated yet and Windows is freaking out. What can I do to A: figure out which USB port sucks and B) make it not suck. I just want the error sound to stop.


    My processor is Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz

    I am facing a problem. Even if I plug in my pen drive into my computer, then my computer is not reading it. I am getting the error message "USB device not recognized"?

    In addition, we suggest that you turn off the notifications from the USB by following these steps:

    • Open Settings by typing "settings" in Cortana's search box.
    • Click on Devices.
    • Locate USB and toggle the switch to Off.
