Windows 10: Microsoft Lifecam HD3000

I have a Lifecam HD 3000, previously used on a Window 7 PC. I now have Windows 10 machine and have been unable to install the driver software.

I have followed the various threads on the community and have downloaded the Windows 7 software and have tried to install it in compatibility mode.

I have had no success (the same as most correspondents!). As I couldn't get past the "Life Cam Can't Run on Windows" message" I obviously can't test the camera.


I thought OK it's an old camera I should buy a new Windows 10 compatible camera; when looking I was horrified to see Microsoft are still selling this model and stating it is Windows 10 compatible. How can it be if the software won't run?


As with others I am amazed that Microsoft should be selling a product that won't work with Windows 10 and say that it will!!!!

Microsoft Lifecam HD3000

I installed a Microsoft Lifecam HD3000 in a virtual desktop (Vmware Horizon) windows 7.

Virtual desktop recognizes the usb camera, windows says device is working properly but camera software does not recognize camera and software like skype does show camera image although microphone does work.

If I try installing in physical PC the camera works fine.

Already disables Non-Microsoft services, but the picture still does not show.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried downloading a fresh copy of the driver for the Microsoft lifecam? If not, we suggest that you download a fresh copy of the driver to make sure that you have the latest version compatible for Windows 10.

Update us on the result.

 

Microsoft lifecam HD3000

I have a brand new Microsoft lifecam HD3000 and cannot get it to work on my PC. (I have tested it on a laptop so I it works). In properties- events- information I see this message Device USB\VID_045E&PID_0779&MI_00\6&19fdf172&0&0000 requires further installation.
With this message in events viewer river Management concluded the process to install driver truecolor.inf_amd64_9ab2dfc39cfb4095\truecolor.inf for Device Instance ID USB\VID_045E&PID_0779&MI_00\6&19FDF172&0&0000 with the following status: 0x0.

As far as I know all privacy settings for the camera are on. I have tried unistall a then reintalling it but that had no effect.

I don't understand what the messages in Properties realy mean but the frase "requires further installation" seems pertinent.

What should I do Next?
