Windows 10: KB4503286 causing odd problems with Lenovo Yoga connected to CalDigit Dock - sleep or power...

I have a Lenovo Yoga 920 connected via thunderbolt to a CalDigit dock. Normally, I start the PC with lid open in order to start "Thunderbolt* Software". I typically have to start the program, then right click in the system tray and "Manage approved devices" in order for the CalDigit dock to be recognized. Once I have done these steps I am able to use the wireless mouse and wired keyboard connected to the dock. At this point I close the lid on the Yoga which always causes the PC to enter "Tablet Mode" in the notification center. At this point I simply turn off tablet mode and use the PC as a desktop.


With the update KB4503286 installed I have problems. Once I have booted up the PC and close the lid the monitor displays in "Tablet Mode" as usual, but but neither the devices connected to the dock or the trackpad and keyboard on the laptop are functional. The PC is completely frozen.


I initially checked the power plan options thinking "choose what happens when you close the lid" had changed, but it has not. The selected option is still "Do Nothing". None of the power settings have changed.


Also, with the update installed, when the PC goes to sleep it will not wake up. The power indicator is still on, but it won't wake. At this point I have to hold in the power button until the power goes off and then turn it back on.


When I uninstall this update all these problems disappear.

Really odd problem with synaptics touchpad buttons (W10 Home, Yoga)


I have Lenovo with Synaptics driver (the drivers for Yoga actually although I have X201) and have all these running if I look in Task Manager:





You should check here also:





I'd suggest to re-install the driver under his account and make sure the start-up item is there and afterwards the 5 or so processes are running.

I'd mention though that it should not be a matter of being administrator account - it works for my wife and she is not. It is worth a try though.

If not post the driver version you are using and we will see. I'm using this one (from Lenovo site)

 

Power settings Ignored - Lenovo Yoga 700 never goes to sleep mode.

Sleep mode never really worked on this machine. I didnt make many changes.

Ok, i will try this soon. i am not at that machine.

yeh i have set the power management settings. Should go to sleep mode in 15 minutes or 30 min depending on the plugged in or not.

Yesterday, i also downloaded Power config drivers from Lenovo. i have to see if it is working better now. i think it still did not go to sleep mode though. i have had issues with the Power settings since i got this Lenovo. I think they are slow to get
drivers out that work. Lots of issues with this Lenovo yoga. Lots of time spent trying to get it right.

 

Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro - doggy after sleep


I have a Yoga 2 Pro, i7, 8Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD.

After sleep from closing the lid, the system is very doggy and laggy. A reboot solves the issue but since that is not the speediest I'd rather not have to do it. I've tried waiting a bit after waking to see if it is loading/running something it needs to after sleep, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

This is a W10 upgrade done right after a virginized install of the W8.1 from the recovery method. W8.1 runs fast and doesn't have any issues with sleep. All drivers have been updated from Lenovo after the install of W10. When I use it after a boot/reboot all is good. The system is responsive with no issues.

Checked with Task Manager to see if something is running that might cause it, but nothing is obvious.
