  1. Partially installed game affecting system on boot. Cannot delete MSIXVC file

I started installing gears of war 5 on game pass but didnt complete the install. I just paused it and shut down the machine. On the next boot, it shows the american megatrends screen saying "please enter setup to recover BIOS settings". It only does this on every clean boot. The PC works fine afterwards. I tried to uninstall all parts of the partially installed game using uninstalled software, but a file in the "MSIXVC" folder is in both hard drives (I have game pass games in both) only deletes on one drive, the other says it can't delete as the file is open in system. When the computer restarts, the file is back in the drive that I deleted it on, and the drive which has the deletable file on switches. I presume deleting this file will fix my boot problems.

    :)

    All files deleted

    Hi,

Backup files will not be affected if the Windows 10 upgrade was installed on the hard drive intended for the operating system. If a clean install was performed where the backup files was stored, then all files will be deleted.

For Windows 10 upgrade, we can manually recover the files by searching for Windows.old. Here are the steps:

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Go to Local Disk (CPartially installed game affecting system on boot. Cannot delete MSIXVC file :).
    • Select Windows.old.
    • Select User then your Username.
Let us know if you need further help.
