Windows 10: Astro A10 headset microphone

my son's headset mic stopped working. He plugs it directly into the Xbox controller. Any suggestions?

Headset issues - Microphone

I have an astro a10 headset. I can hear my friends only when I plug in the mic to my xbox controller (which is also plugged into my PC thru USB). I have the Y splitter into the front jacks but that wont let me hear anything.

My microphone shows it's playing sound in my settings but my friends are not able to hear me.

Logitech Acquires ASTRO Gaming for $85 million

Logitech is very good actually (although trust's gxt 353 should be considered for pc and there are quite a few alternatives that are arguably better) and astro has the ideas, but then forgets about something as basic as a good microphone. Still, at least we should have more astro a10 grade headsets rather than 300 dollar pieces of sh*t. Astro a50 is worth 150 dollars AT MOST imo.

There are alternatives at similar price, but most decent ones have usb 2.0 connectors, so if you ever want to use them with your mobile device, you can't.

But seriously, really expensive wireless headsets suck. Anything more than 150 dollars/200 euros probably isn't worth considering.
