Windows 10: DTS immersive sound is now available on Windows 10 May 2019 Update

After half a year of internal testing, DTS:X — or DTS immersive sound experience, as DTS notes — has arrived for all Windows 10 users. DTS quietly updated its Microsoft Store app over the weekend with support for Windows 10 May 2019 Update (version 1903) and everyone can finally install the app.

Microsoft has tested DTS:X and immersive audio for movies and games with Windows Insiders to bring surround sound to your stereo headphones. The app called ‘DTS Sound Unbound‘ brings support for both DTS:X and DTS Headphone:X to your PC (and eventually other devices, including Xbox One).

According to Microsoft Store listing, you’ll need a PC with Windows 10 Build 18362.xxx or newer to download and run the app. Download size is approximately 210 MB.

DST says installing this app will enable immersive and 3D audio, and it works together with Microsoft Spatial sound technology. As mentioned, the app also enables DTS:X technology, so you can play DTS-encoded content and watch movies with improved immersion and realism.

DTS Headphone:X technology is also included in this app. It’s worth noting that the free offering only allows a simple trial and the full-fledged technology requires you to make a one-time payment.

Last year at Ignite, we announced Office 2019 – the next perpetual version of Office that includes apps (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Skype for Business) and servers (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business). Today we’re pleased to share the following updates:

• Office 2019 will ship in H2 of 2018. Previews of the new apps and servers will start shipping in the second quarter of 2018.
• Office 2019 apps will be supported on:
  • Any supported Windows 10 SAC release
  • Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2018
  • The next LTSC release of Windows Server
• The Office 2019 client apps will be released with Click-to-Run installation technology only. We will not provide MSI as a deployment methodology for Office 2019 clients. We will continue to provide MSI for Office Server products.

 

How do I get DTS sound on a Windows 10 Toshiba C70-C-12U?

I understand the inconvenience caused to you in accessing DTS sound on your new computer and uninstalling Groove music app, we will help you with this issue.

1. Steps to install the DTS sound on Windows 10:

As you get the error message while installing the DTS software saying not compatible, I suggest you to install it in compatible mode on Windows 10 and check if it helps.

You can install Windows 8/8.1 drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 10 compatible drivers.

Follow the steps to install in Compatibility mode:

• Download the updated driver from the manufacturer’s website.
• Right click the driver installation file and select
  Properties then tap or click the Compatibility tab.
• Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode for: box.
  
• Tap the drop down box and select a previous operating system, then tap or click
  OK.
• Try installing the driver and check.

2. Steps to uninstall the Groove music app:

As your concern to uninstall the Groove music app, I suggest you to run the following PowerShell command and check if it helps.

Note: You need to close the Windows Store and other apps before executing the PowerShell command. Also, sign-out and sign-in before uninstalling/ installing the apps.

Follow the below steps.

• Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Groove Music app.
  

• 
  get-appxpackage *Microsoft.ZuneMusic* | remove-appxpackage
