Windows 10: HP Bios Update - Forced Windows 10 Pin to be erased

Hi,

Anyone got an ideas how to help me?


HP have performed a remote bios update on my laptop, this has reset my pin for Win10. (I cannot remember my password, it's been 2 years at a guess)

It has a 'setup new pin' button, but requests to send an email to an email that doesn't exist (previous employer).

I logged onto windows account via my phone, and was able to get Microsoft Security to send me an Account Security code (4 digits) to another email address, the win10 system is requiring a 7 digit password reset code?

Pin not working after BIOS Update

Hi Max,

It seems that your operating system was no longer aligned with your BIOS after installing a BIOS update for your HD3P main board.

For us to diagnose and address the problem, we suggest starting your computer in safe mode and check if the PIN is working while in that state. If it's working, then a 3rd party application may have caused the issue. To start your PC in safe mode, please

If the PIN is not working in safe mode, then a reset is suggested to correct the problem. The operating system should always go with the BIOS. If the BIOS is freshly updated, then the OS has to be fresh as well. Check out

I actually had a client call yesterday with an email problem. when I tried walking him through some steps, he says "Yeah, I don't see that there, but I think it's because it's updated to windows 10. It did that a few weeks ago. I came back in on Monday, and it said Welcome to Windows 10"..... I think I'd throw the computer out the window.

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.
