  1. working with pinned apps in the taskbar

    hello everyone,

i want to discuss the behaviour of pinned applications in the taskbar in win 10

if the things i state are false please feel free to educate me, i will appreciate it.

the current state in windows 10 is as follows; if you pin an app to the taskbar the opening location for the running program will be the same as the pinned icon in the taskbar and it will also replace the pinned icon for that application. the running program will be placed between pinned apps, that are not running. this is opposite to the functioning we had back in the old win xp days where all pinned programs where grouped on the left side and all open applications where grouped on the right side. both solutions are more or less understandable for less experienced users. vista was total chaos, so i am very glad that we advanced from that state.

what i really like about the win 10 solution is

    1) win key shortcuts for every pinned application

    2) the overview for less experienced users because there is only one location for their applications and it makes working for them easier. no guessing games if a app is open or closed and they always know where to find those.

that said i want to state i feel we could do more for powerusers working with the taskbar.

i personally liked parts of the grouping of the win xp style and i hope there will be an option in the future to tune it more to the customer needs and experience but most importantly i hope there will be custom options to modify key shortcuts further than "win+1" opens or minimizes an application.

for example: i´d really like to have the option to "win+1" for another instance of that application instead of the basic open/minimize function.

i guess you could play with regedit to achieve such requests, but my general message is that i would be cool to control such a behaviour by selecting grouped options and shortcut behaviour thru the options

    whats your opinion?

    best regards,

    matthias

    :)

Query re pinning and unpinning apps to taskbar

Pinning an app to taskbar does not remove it from Start all apps list. It list in Start under letter M as in Microsoft Edge, you should find it there even when it is pinned to taskbar.

windows 10 home missing pin to taskbar for installed applications

I added a third step to the first suggestion, which worked for me:

    1. Choose start> All apps,

    2. Scroll to the application you want to pin, right click and then click
    Pin to taskbar.

    3. When the desired icon tile appears in the desktop box, left click on it and drag it into the task bar.

working with pinned apps in the taskbar

Query re pinning and unpinning apps to taskbar

I tried using Edge and as I liked it I right clicked the app listing and the pinned it to the taskbar.

What I want to know is how to put that Edge listing back with the other apps because if I unpin it from the taskbar how does one reattach Edge to the listings.
