  1. Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator??

Win 10 Pro. 1709. One of the first things I do upon boot is fire up task manager. For the first time that I can recall I now see "Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator" listed in Processes. And I would have noticed it before since it is right under Microsoft Pay which I terminate each day. It sure does not seem like it has anything to do with Win 10 though I certainly could be wrong:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ator-service-i

I terminated the process. No ill effect so far. No recently installed programs or updates. Anyone have an explanation why it suddenly appeared. TIA.

P.S. It came back when I now just went and checked : )

    :)

Error: 8004E00F - COM+ was unable to talk to the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordiantor when trying to install application on Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that it can be frustrating when the program is not installing because of an error related to MSDTC service. The issue might occur if the MSDTC service is set to local system account. However, I would like to know if
the PC is connected to Domain network?

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check if that helps.

    Note:
Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection,
back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Refer the article on How to back up and
    restore the registry in Windows
    .

    1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
    2. In Run dialog box, type
      regedit
      and hit enter.
    3. In the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSDTC.
    4. Now on the right hand pane look for
      TurnOffRpcSecurity registry key.
    5. Right click on the DWORD file and click on
Modify and set the value to 1.
    6. Close the registry editor.

Once the registry key is changed, we will change the
Distributed Transaction Coordinator service log on user.

    1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
    2. In Run dialog box, type
      services.msc
      and hit enter.
    3. Look for the service Distributed Transaction Coordinator.
    4. Right click on the service and click on
      Stop.
    5. After stopping the service right click on the service and click on
      Properties.
    6. Now under Log on tab and click on the radio button
      This account.
    7. Now click on Browse and type
      Network service
and click on Check Names and click on
      OK
      .
    8. Leave the Password section as blank and click on
      Apply and OK.
    9. Now right click on the service and click on
      Start.
    10. Restart the PC.

    We await your response.
