Best way(s) to install new system hardware - video card & power supply

Hello all.....l o n g time since I have posted so hope this request for help is OK......have to replace both power supply and graphics card in my system. Have a multi monitor system so I have a new card with dual DVI ports and one HDMI port which run my three monitors

Question is does it matter in what order I install and launch these two components.....can/should I simply install both items and start up.....or should I 1) install new power supply and then 2) turn power off and install the new graphics card and re-power on....

Since system is down can not post current specs but pretty much the same as in my specs minus the 2 new replacement cards

I would think it would be fine to install both and just power up.....but any guidance will be much appreciated

Thanks..... (p.s. - my system specs are the same with exception of 2 new to be installed cards above) I am running most current Win 10 64bit version - since PC is down can't verify current version but believe it's up to date

    :)

  2. Need help installing the new GPU in the system!

Frick was alittle vague there. Here's what you need to do and the order you need to do them in.

First, go to your control panel-add/remove programs and uninstall your AMD Catalyst Install Manager

Go to your device manager- display adapters, select your current video card and select uninstall

Shut down your computer and unplug it

Open your case and remove both your old video card and power supply.

    Install the new video card

    Install the power supply

Double check to make sure all your wires are properly connected

Plug in your computer and boot it up

Install the drivers for your new video card

    Enjoy

Following those steps, you should have no problem with installing your new hardware

Power supply getting OFF while putting the PC on Sleep mode.

Hi...Have you tried my suggestion?...I have had issues with 'Sleep' mode and it was always due to 'Video Adapter'.

The Power Supply can be controlled by the way you have your settings configured.

It can be a simple setting but not the 'Power Supply' as you have noted.

What Video card or system are you using {on board or added and installed}?

  4. Best way(s) to install new system hardware - video card & power supply

Question about compatibility between power supply and video card

A nVidia 1060 video card requires at least 350 to 400 Watts power supply unit. A 600 WATT power supply should be more than sufficient.
