  1. Windows 10 can't share printer to other Windows 10 on same WorkGroup

I recently installed Windows 10 Pro on my home computer. I reinstalled the same printer I had when my computer was a Windows 7 computer. The printer is installed via USB on my computer: Canon MG3620. I can print to it.

I want my husband to be able to print to it from his computer (Windows 10 Home) just on the other side of the small room our home office is. My computer is connected to the network via Ethernet as is his computer. Both are on workgroup UFP. I even added him as Family on my computer so he could log on to my computer with the username and password from his computer.

I used the Sharing Tab in Printer Properties to share the printer. I made sure Everyone had access to Print and Manage Documents.

I made sure my computer knew I was on a Private network (had been set to Public, got that changed). I even checked the Firewall.

Every time I try to add the printer on his computer (via Settings, Control Panel, or Command Prompt), I'm prompted for credentials.

I've tried my computer's credentials. I've tried his computer's credentials. Neither works. Over an over. I know they're the right passwords. I reset his, I confirmed mine. Each computer can be logged in with those passwords respectively.

I'm a Desktop Support Technician. I know my way around computers. But this used to be easier. I just want my husband to be able to turn the printer on and print to it from his computer without having to email me whatever he needs to print.

Please help. I'm getting very frustrated. Google is not even helping. Just showing me the same instructions that don't work.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. windows 10 VERY slow when trying to open Devices & Printers?

Although I appreciate your offer for suggestions as you can see by the post dates, this thread is a bit long in the tooth. The issue was resolved with one of the updated builds of windows 10. Although in my opinion it's still not as fast as Windows 7, it's nowhere near as slow as it was in summer 2016 when I posted this issue.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Launch the Store from your Start menu.
    • Click the user icon next to the search box.
    • Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
    • Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
    • When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”
