Lenovo Z40-70 Wi-Fi disconnects after few minutes of connection.

    Hey folks,

Apologies for a long post, but I thought I needed to be more elaborate on my situation, kindly read through and suggest something.

My laptop disconnects from Wi-Fi automatically after few minutes of connection. It either needs to be restarted or put to sleep and wake after few minutes to connect again.

Tried all the possible ways to rectify this, like solutions found on Lenovo forum, Microsoft forum and on google but nothing seems to be working here L

    Wi-Fi adapter: Qualcomm Atheros AR956x

    Driver version: 10.0.0.341

    Tried these solutions/workarounds:

    1. Driver update, rollback, uninstall and install—failed.
    2. Using the troubleshooter provided by windows in Network and sharing center—not useful.
    3. Under Device manager changing the properties to uncheck the option “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” – failed.
    4. Tried using the Command prompt to reset the TCP/IP Stack: netsh int ip reset C:\resetlog.txt-- Command runs but not affecting anything as the problem still persists.

Tried to release or renew the IP using ipconfig /release but the system says:

No operation can be performed on Ethernet while it has its media disconnected.

No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection* 15 while it has its media disconnected.

No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection* 17 while it has its media disconnected.

No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection* 19 while it has its media disconnected.

No operation can be performed on Wi-Fi while it has its media disconnected.

Same output goes for ipconfig/renew as well, as release didn’t work J.

Tried the release/renew sequence connecting my laptop on Ethernet with router, that didn’t work either.

There too, same answer as above but detailed for the three Wi-Fi signals I used to connect and for the Ethernet port too.

    Tried these as well:

netsh winsock reset catalog à to reset WINSOCK entries

    netsh int ipv4 reset reset.logàto reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack

netsh int ipv6 reset reset.logà to reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack

And restarted several times as prompted by system as and when the command runs, but not helpful and my Wi-Fi still gets disconnected after a brief few minutes of connection.

There is absolutely no problem with my other devices like my IPhone, TV or other laptop (MacBook) or any other device connected to my router for this matter.

This seems to be happening on my laptop after the latest update from Microsoft, which I installed on Nov 14, 2019 (Some Quality Updates)

Update named: 2019-11 Cumulative update for windows 10 version 1903 for x64 based systems (KB4524570), its related updates like cumulative update for .NET and some security updates.

Tried uninstalling the updates as well, but didn't work Lenovo Z40-70 Wi-Fi disconnects after few minutes of connection. :( and I couldn't uninstall some security updates.

    Please help.

    TIA,

    Kiru

    :)

  2. Wi-Fi disconnect

Windows doesn't disconnect a properly working WiFi. Mine NEVER disconnects since the last time I restarted my computer. I suggest to check for near-by WiFi radios to see if your channel is too crowded or if all the channels are crowded, just switch to 5 GHz band like mine

    No wi-fi connection

I found the restore points and went back to last month, when the Wi-Fi was still working. I reconnected the router. The control panel says the connection is secure and connected when I tried to get online via wireless rather than DSL, but the icon on the bottom is still the DSL one. Do I have to disconnect the DSL cable in order to use the Wi-Fi or does it matter? The control panel lists both internet connections.

Connecting Bluetooth causes Wi-Fi to disconnect or have limited connectivity

After upgrade from 8.1 to Windows 10 on Lenovo laptop: When connecting a Bluetooth device to play my music through, in moments and every time, my Wi-Fi disconnects. Adapter & Bluetooth drivers say are up to date. Wi-Fi from Virgin Super hub in which I
have tried changing channels. (I have a Bluetooth mouse connected without issue) Any suggestions?? Please??
