Windows 10: Onedrive adding duplicates with new "1" extension to photos in Skydrive folder

Recently i'm seeing a bunch of photos in m Skydrive folder (both on my PC via the OneDrive app/file folder, AND online in OneDrive directly) with a "1" added to the file name. These are still jpg's, but if I click on them they won't open. Says OneDrive can't open this type of file.


I can usually find what I think is the original, and that will open.


So, for example, there will be two files:


20190704_17329.jpg - this one will open and has a thumbnail I can also see

20190704_17329_1.jpg - this has no photo thumbnail and will not open

also weird, they won't sort next to each other by date, so I have to scan through thousands of photos individually to find each "match".

Any ideas here or help greatly appreciated to get this cleaned up.

onedrive duplicating my folders...

Hi.

Again, onedrive is going crazy and is duplicating my main folder, full of subfolders. It's locking me out of all my files. I have windows 10, Office 365 home. I paused synch at the moment before I have 1000 copy of my folder, which I can't open anyway!
Please don't ask me any question that will further delay the repair. Simply give me a step by step solution and then improve onedrive so this won't happen again to so many of us. I suggest you also add "onedrive" in the list of "Windows Topics" below since
thousands of users have issues with it.

Random folders appearing to my new hard drive

Options > Scan options





Then after that, enable options > hide virustotal.com clean entries ... only suspicious stuff will remain.
Check the complete list on the Everything tab, it may not be explorer extension listed on that tab.

It may be something stupidly simple like onedrive/skydrive being setup to sync folders that are being dumped remotely.

 

OneDrive vs SkyDrive


You got everything selected in OneDrive Settings > Account tab > "Choose folders" I suppose?




Perhaps you could try unlinking OneDrive on your tower, rename SkyDrive directory to OneDrive and then run OneDrive setup again just in case it really does require the new name. The method is described here Move the OneDrive Folder - Microsoft Community

You could also have a look at %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\logs\Personal\SyncDiagnostics.log and see if has the word "Error" anywhere but I've had more luck disconnecting and reconnecting when I had SkyDrive errors in the past.
