Windows 10: microsoft security essentials

    I am seeing yellow for my "MSE" i am "trying to scan it so i clicked on a quick scan it still showing yellow so I take it that did not work. My question is in the settings where it says "run a scheduled scan" well the boxes are checked (i have no idea why or what anything I am asking means) the last box is checked it is something about percent it is showing 70% why? and it says after the checked box "limit CPU usage during a scan to: then it has a dropdown (this is where the 70% is) there are alot of percents to choose from how do I know if I have the correct % in and what should I have in there for %? Ok so after that I went to omg I cannot remember now how I got there, well I'm not there now and don't know how to get back but it was "what drives do I want to scan? is what it said, it had one highlighted it would not allow me to click on it to scan it I guess it doesn't much matter now anyway cause I cannot even remember how I got there. Bottom line I need help with this, what do I set my Microsoft Essential to do this ac to/on correctly? How do I know? This is probably a waste of my time I just spent over an hour on a site typing stuff I don't even understand to get help. "ask" or whatever it was, it came up that I was seven hundred and some odd amount "Over" what was allowable to ask for amount of word. I screamed It should have told a person that. When computer 1st became a big thing everyone thought " Yes faster easier time saving" WRONG I spent my entire day on here trying to ask this question when I 1st started I had all the words down correctly now they are like a "scrabble" game in my head, and my day is gone it is now Dark out! so much for quicker faster and time-saving! what a joke! anyway I would be grateful if you could answer for me what the percentage should be on before I do my scan in the Microsoft Essential Security

    Windows 10 Windows Defender versus Microsoft Security Essentials

    Hi Bryan,

    Microsoft Security Essentials was upgraded to Windows defender and it was a default security software from Windows 8. You cannot have both as they are one.

    Since you get this annoying popup at the startup i suggest you to disable any Microsoft Security Essentials entries in Startup tab.

    • Open the Task manager. by pressing Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
    • click on Startup tab
    • Right click on Microsoft Security Essentials entry and click on Disable.

    Restart the computer and check if that helps.
