  1. How to see past results of scans in Windows Defender?

Hello E1 How to see past results of scans in Windows Defender? :)
I did an offline scan with Windows Defender and can't seem to find the scan results. According to MS ( https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...nder-antivirus ),
there should have been a "Scan history" label under "Virus & threat protection" in settings, but I can't seem to find this label.
The same MS knowledge base article suggests typing "Get-MpThreatDetection" in Powershell. This gives no results.

In Event Viewer-> Applications and Services-> Microsoft-> Windows-> Windows Defender I found an event that reads "Windows Defender Antivirus has removed history of malware and other potentially unwanted software."
and another one "Defender Antivirus has encountered an error trying to update security intelligence."
and another "Defender Antivirus Configuration has changed. If this is an unexpected event you should review the settings as this may be the result of malware.
    Old value: Default\IsServiceRunning = 0x0
    New value: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\IsServiceRunning = 0x1"

Just ran a scan with Malwarebytes anti rootkit that didn't find anything.

Any help would be much appreciated

    :)

  2. defender scans

    Hi Ian,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

This issue might occur if you have set any task scheduler for Windows Defender.

I suggest you to delete the task for Windows defender and check if it helps.

    Follow the below steps:

    • Search and open Schedule tasks.

    • In the left-hand menu, open the Task Scheduler Library, then select
      Microsoft >Windows >Windows Defender.

    • Double-click Windows Defender Scheduled Scan.

    • Select the Triggers panel, then select Delete.

Hope it helps, reply to us with the status of your issue. We will be happy to assist you.

  3. Windows Defender Scans

According to the Event Viewer, a Windows Defender Scan is listed it as "Scan Type: Antimalware." Does that include all threats?

When I do a manual scan, and then go to see the results, the results aren't there and the Scan history usually only lists an automatic scan done at a previous time, and I have to go tot he event viewer to see it. Is there a tool that will allow me to easily view only scans?

Also, is a quick scan sufficient? What does a scan of the OS drive do that is different that the quick scan?
