Windows 10: HP C4640 Stuck in Unspecified. USB setup on drive not finished.

I am on a Windows 10 Home (V 10.0.18362 Build 18362) computer. Printer was stuck in undefined so I cannot share easily. I followed instructions on other threads with similar problems and still not working. I have uninstalled drives and software several times, and tried various sequence combinations but nothing works to get the HP Driver/software package to recognize the printer and move to the next screen.

Right now, I would settle for just getting the package to work, so I can use HP Solution Center to scan and do other things. But if it could be recognized as a printer, that would be a bonus.

Unspecified USB Pen Drive

This can be caused by a driver issue or virus-infected USB drive. For further isolation of the issue and for us to provide a solution suitable to your pen drive concern, we need additional information. Can you answer the questions below?

• When did this happen?
• Were there any recent changes made to your device prior to the issue?
• Does it appear in the disk management?
• Can you connect other USB drives and see if the same error will occur?

In the meantime, try updating the USB driver as an initial troubleshooting step and see if the error will occur again when you connect your USB drive. Follow the steps below:

• Open Device Manager.
• Look for Universal Serial Bus controllers and click it to expand.
• Select the driver then right-click on it and select Properties.
• Under Driver tab, click the Update Driver
  button to update the driver.

USB boot for bios update

Did the first step. It already doesn't work. Note the capacities and drive letters M:/N: The HP utility is about to format my raid-1 volume containing my 2 750gb drives. It thinks it's the usb stick. I can not select any other drives in the HP utility. My 512mb usb stick is U:.

Any other suggestions?

 

"You can't install Windows 10 to a USB drive using setup" cure?

I seem to remember trying to do something similar sometime back...mounting a downloaded Windows10.iso and mounting it as a drive. If that is the same thing as what you are suggesting, it did not work, ended with "You can't install Windows 10 to a USB flash drive using setup."

If not the same thing, I would need a step-by-step procedure to follow in order for me to get that done.
