Windows 10: Edit File History config1.xml and config2.xml Files Directly

I'd like to make some changes to the File History config1.xml and config2.xml files to "clean" things up a little ... like sort included folders alphabetically, etc. However, if I edit these four files directory (there are two of each) they revert back to their default values as soon as File History runs. Anyone know if it's possible to edit these files directly and have the values stay? Where does File History get the default values from ... maybe I can edit the default values (possibly in the registry) instead of editing the xml configuration files.

File history in Windows 10 says "File History doesn't recognize this drive"

Should I make changes to the Config1.xml and/or Config2.xml files in this directory? I did not make any changes. I tried both methods and I still get error messages such as "Your current File History drive is disconnected. Reconnect the drive and try
again." and "File History doesn't recognize this drive." I am not sure what to do next.

 

How to delete backup files from File History in Windows 10

Copy the following path and paste it in the File Explorer address bar:

%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration

The following files would be present in that folder:

Catalog1.edb

Catalog1.jfm

Catalog2.edb

Catalog2.jfm

Config1.xml

Config2.xml

Clear them all, or just rename the "Configuration" folder.

C++ source code to compare XML files like ExamXML XML differ

I’m working on a Linux project that includes identifying changes between XML files and I need a source code on C++ to compare XML fragments.
I’m using differencing tool ExamXML from A7Soft provides tools to compare XML documents to compare and merge XML files but this is Windows application.
