  1. Can't find option to enable Password/PIN requirement in UAC prompts after reimage

Currently installed OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Home

    Version: 10.0.18363 Build 18363

I recently had to reimage my PC. It was acting funny, but that's beside the point. Originally, I purchased an OEM license for Windows 8.1 Full Version - 64-bit. Later I upgraded to Windows 10 for free when they were offering it. Prior to reimaging, I had it configured to prompt for my PIN whenever changes were being made to my PC. I had previously "upgraded" my security from the default "YES/NO" prompt. I used a USB I had previously made for Windows 10 installation and installed using my product key. I have reimaged several times in the past with this method. However, this time, when I went to enable the Password/PIN requirement for changes in UAC, I couldn't find the option. Here's a screenshot of the options I do have.

Did I install the wrong version or have I forgotten where to enable this?

  2. Any way to enable an admin password for UAC in windows 10?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft community.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if this helps:

    • Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button.
    • Then type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings.

    • Do one of the following:
    • To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click
OK. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.
    • To turn on UAC, move the slider to choose when you want to be notified, and then click
OK. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

How to make UAC prompt me for my PIN instead of password

    Hi all,

I was wondering how to make Windows UAC prompting me for my PIN be the default behavior, instead of prompting for my password?

I have just reinstalled Windows 10 on my laptop. I used to be able to do that. Now that I have reinstalled Windows 10 it prompts for my password and I always have to click a button that says "Show me other choices" to then being able to choose the PIN option and then type it.

I am using Windows 10 version 1607 and was using it then.

    Thanks in advance.

How to make UAC prompt me for my PIN instead of password

    Well,

I found out that when you sign in with Microsoft Account it asks for a PIN, and after you've got that set up, UAC prompts, as default, for a PIN instead of the user password.
