  1. Windows won't re-activate after a hardware change

I recently had to put my hard drive in another computer for maintenance purposes, and when I put my hard drive back in the original laptop, windows is deactivated. I used command prompt to find my original product key and tried entering it in, and it gave me the opportunity to activate windows. I clicked "activate", and it was loading, then it said "Unable to activate Windows. It looks like the hardware on this device has changed." It gave me an error code of 0xC0EA000A. I have tried this multiple times to no avail, and the same error code every time. What does this mean? Please don't tell me I have to buy a new key.

    :)

Macrium is used frequently in this forum. There are experts in using it to recover drives. It's unclear as to why you are struggling to use it. I had not used it and just tried it for the first time and it went smoothly. Maybe these images might help?

    Windows won't re-activate after a hardware change

    windows activation—hardware changed siginficantly

From time to time on my thoroughbred PC, I get a Windows activation message that says my hardware changed siginificantly and I have to re-activate Windows. My hardware hasn't changed any more than a network card (went from a wireless g card to onboard lan to a wired network card), and the install is legit. Why is it doing this, and how can I stop it?
