  1. BSOD When starting "Outlook"

    Hey,

a really weird Issue - maybe somebody have a hin for me where to look next.

    Device: Lenovo Yoga C940 (2019) with a i7 16GB RAM and 512 SSD

Problem: Every Morning when I start my laptop, open Outlook and click the first new email it freezez and a second later BSOD with Driver DMA Verifier error.

The thing is, it only happen when Connected to my TB3 Lenovo Dock. On this Dock is my LAN, 2nd Monitor and Keyb / mouse that's it. It is TB3 certified and recocgnized by the system.

The syslog is empty, just showing "Kernel Power - PC was unexpected powered off" so the crash seems so hard that there is not even time to write some syslog messages.

My Guess is something to do with Graphic driver as soon as the dock is connected.

The whole Situation only happens once a day, after I had that BSOD and rebooted the whole day is fine, but every morning the same thing again - chance that it happen at first boot on a day is about 80%, chace it happen later after the BSOD happend is less than 10%.

Device Manager and Systemlog does not show any devices in conflict or disabled due to driver Problems.

Anybody have a tipp how I can figure out what Exactly may cause this?

Errorcodes during the BSOD are changing, last one:

    0x000000e6 (0x0000000000000026, 0x0000000000000010, 0x0000000b54708000, 0x0000000000000006).

Only strange log before the crash is this:

Miniport "Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter #4, {4c8c6c4b-0534-4d2b-88ff-87557390dd3c}" Fatal error: The miniport has failed a power transition to operational power

    Thanks alot.

    Outlook 2016 problems

As suggested by Appleoddity, the first step is to disable all your add-ins to determine whether the issue is caused by a problematic add-in.

If issue still continues when all add-ins are disabled, then you can try renaming the following \Outlook registry key to \Outlook-1 when Outlook is closed:

    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook

Then, start Outlook and create your new profile to test it. When you start Outlook in safe mode, most of the customization settings are disabled, and these customization settings are stored in the \Outlook registry key. If it doesn't work, you can just renaming the newly generated \Outlook key to \Outlook-2, and then rename the \Outlook-1 key back to \Outlook.

    BSOD When starting "Outlook"

How to install outlook express on windows xp with explorer 8?

This is an awkward problem to solve and one I don't think is worth the time and effort.

The OP would be better off either using a modern webmail service like gmail or outlook.com or using a modern email client like Windows Live Mail like FX-GMC suggested or Thunderbird from Mozilla. If nothing else, Outlook Distress was notorious for corrupting its data files and losing all your email in one easy step. Not worth it.
