  1. Laptop connects to internet with Wifi, but not ethernet

    Hello,

I have been scouring the internet looking for a solution, but I can't find one.

My issue is that I can connect to my network and internet perfectly fine with wifi, but when I connect my ethernet cable into my laptop's port, it will show me the correct SSID name for my network, but will say that it's not connected to the network, and there's no internet connection.

Fixes I have tried that have not worked:

    1. Reset computer

    2. Reset modem/router

    3. Changed automatic IP and DNS setting to static, and changed them back.

    4. Updated ethernet port drivers

    5. Ran Microsoft troubleshooter multiple times for the same issue after doing each one of these things.

    6. Disabled and re enabled ethernet

    7. Disabled wifi and tried to connect to ethernet

    8. Altered every variation of the above fixes and haven't gotten anywhere.

Microsoft troubleshooter's main "fix" is to do a Networking Reset, which restarts my computer, and the network, and when I log back in, I still can't connect to the internet using ethernet.

Remember, wifi works perfectly fine, but the ethernet is just refusing to work.

Does anyone have any tips to get my ethernet working?

    Thank you in advance!

    :)

  2. laptop can't find wifi but connects with ethernet cable

Please try these troubleshooting steps that may help.

    1. Make sure the router SSID broadcast is on.
    2. Change the wifi channel to see if it resolves the problem.
    3. Enter the SSID and WPA2 password manually and see if the laptop connects.
    4. Temporarily turn off the encryption.
    5. We go into device manager & check updates for wifi drivers, we may need to simply update the driver.
    6. We go to Settings - Network & Internet - Status - Change Adapter Options, then right-clicked 'Ethernet' and disabled it. We do the same with wifi. Then we (with Ethernet still disabled) enabled wifi. It should re-connect to your wifi after a while.
    7. We have to disconnect our Ethernet cable from our laptop and follow the steps:
Start>Control Panel>Network and Sharing Center>Manage Wireless Networks and remove all wireless connections by right click on it and select Remove network from the drop down menu. After doing this, close the windows and scan for the wifi networks.
Click on the available network and select connect. After a while, we will be asked to give a password for our wifi connection. Type the password and click on connect button. And now will be connected to our wifi network via wireless.
    8. First is to disconnect the internet cable from the laptop then uninstall/reinstall the wifi adapter.
Go to Device Manager and uninstall the wifi adapter.
Once uninstalled, reboot the laptop and it should reinstall the driver automatically.
After the reboot do try connecting to your wireless network again.
If all these will not work, do also make sure that the wireless adapter is enabled. Depending the model of your laptop there should be key combinations on how to enable/disable it.

Can't Connect to Internet via Ethernet Now on Laptop - Used to Work

    Hi,

Don't know what changed, but now when I try to connect to internet on my tiny GPD WIN laptop running Win 10, I get the yellow triangle on the network icon in taskbar and message 'identifying....No internet access'.

I've checked network connection and cable on another laptop and connection works OK.

Checked Device Manager and everything looks OK.

[UPDATE] Just did the Windows Network Troubleshooter.....
Both WiFi and Ethernet have message:

Any suggestions how to get ethernet working again?

    Thank you!

    Mark
