Windows 10: Explorer is getting crash and black creen showing. after login to user

stuck on the personalizing window after login user account and showing a black screen. repair, safe mode, recovery, restore point nothing working.

Black screen after login - other user gets logged in background


So I got these two issues, don't know if these are related. At least second must be a bug or other conflict between accounts etc.

1. Black screen appears after admin login, lasts about 6 minutes before desktop appears. And note: black screen appears only for the admin login, other basic user account logins shows desktop in less than 10 seconds from login.
2. When switching of or rebooting from any account logged in, windows complains that there is another user logged in. Whatever has happened, there hasn't be a physical typing login of any other user. I started to see and realize this because my other family accounts has tried to switch of this PC but didn't notice that note of other user logged in and left the PC in that state without clicking don't mind; I see this when I log in next day with admin login details and switching off this other user note appears. And this happens also verse vice, just like admin gets logged in in background without me getting really logged in.

I got from Microsoft Finland community support advise that I should create a new admin account and then destroy current admin. But that would be a big mess because I have the whole MS family based on control from my current admin account. Also too many other services are depending of the control from this current admin account as Office 365 home accounts and security software.

Access, follow these steps:

• Type File Explorer Option in the search box.
• Click on File Explorer Options.
• Under General tab, choose This PC in the Open File Explorer to: drop down menu.
  
• Uncheck Show recently used files in Quick access and
  Show frequently use folders in Quick access.
• Click Apply an OK.
• Restart the computer and re-enable Quick access.

Let us know how it goes after performing the suggested troubleshooting steps.

 

Black screen after admin login and cannot login with normal user account

Thanks for your reply. While your reply was well structured it remained very general and did NOT address any of the specifics I already mentioned and which I had summarised in my two previous posts …

I actually already did and described what you (later) suggested and I performed a new installation from an ISO image. As to my 20th July posting:

BTW, the “after a new installation” was the fresh installation from an ISO image - sorry if it wasn’t clear.

However, in both cases the problem emerged after the cumulative update
KB3172985 was installed.

I need to continue and work and this update problem did already cost me enormously … !!

To be able to continue I uninstalling the KB3172985 update again (by booting into Safe Mode then Control panel > Programs & features > View installed updates > Uninstall ) and then
excluded it from future updates by using the Windows utility “Windows show or hide” <wushowhide.diagcab>.

Same problem with cumulative update KB 3176493

However, in the meantime the problem arrived again/persist with the NEW
cumulative update KB 3176493 !

The same symptoms as before. The only way I can get a login is by uninstalling the update in the same way I described above for the previous cumulative update.

Summary of process/error

• System runs perfectly alright and stable
• Update KB 3176493 installs
• Reboot with updates being performed
• Welcome screen (as usual)
• Ctrl+alt+del -> Login prompt

(Problems start to show here)

• If I log in with a local user account as a ‘normal user’ (NOT administrator)
  • -> The login process commences but then immediately terminates the process showing ‘signing out’
    
• If I log in with a local user account as an ‘administrator’
  • -> The login process commences
  • - Seems to take longer
  • - Screen turns black
  • - Message window pops up
  • “Apoint.exe - Failed to load Apoint.dll Alps Pointing device application has stopped.”
  • - Black screen
  • - Ctrl+alt+del gives the usual list but cannot open task manager

So, where from here?
