Windows 10: Windows is tabbing out of programs in fullscreen mode randomly

Since Tuesday, I have an issue where Windows is tabbing out of programs that are running in fullscreen mode, randomly. It also really just happens with programs used in fullscreen, and so far never happened while doing things like browsing the web, for example. I have found an issue people had in the past with windows doing something like that which was apparently caused by the OfficeBackgroundTaskHandlerRegistration task in the Office folder, found in the Task Scheduler. But in my case, it doesn't happen hourly, though when it happens, it is always in a timespan of 20min past the hour. On top of that, I don't have an Office folder in my Task Scheduler nor the task that should be disabled in said folder. I do think that is because I recently uninstalled the free version of Office that is installed with Win10. After all, I don't use it. Still, it doesn't explain why the tabbing out happens.

So far, I haven't found anything that could be the cause for that problem, but I have installed the Window Focus Logger to see what is causing that hopefully. Sadly, when I had the issue happen today, while the Logger was running, there wasn't any info on what is explicitly tabbing out of fullscreen programs. It only shows it is:

It doesn't show any info, besides that it is caused by windows.

I have also already uninstalled all programs that I installed shortly before and after the tabbing out happened for the first time, but nothing changed anything.

What could cause the tabbing out, and how can I potentially find out what is causing it?

What is the "magic" of alt+tab?

run in borderless windowed mode, and avoid that requirement of Alt+Tab. it looks the same as fullscreen, but it will fixed issues tied with running in Fullscreen.

 

Steam games in windowed mode?

right click the game and go to properties, then click "set launch options"

then you can enter the arguments for windowed mode, usually -w or something like that. you can find these probably by right clicking on the game in the list and go to "view forum"

probably not alt-tab since that's for switching programs

This should be enough to get the conspiracy theorists suggesting that Microsoft is intentionally crippling multi-monitor support in fullscreen mode since games sold on the Microsoft Store all work in the pseudo-fullscreen mode...

Or it could just be an idiotic bug that will be fixed in time.
