Windows 10: DESKTOP ICONS HAVE NO NAMES IN WIN 10

I have had this occur twice in the last few days. After log-in, my desktop comes up with its normal appearance. Usual background photo, taskbar in usual configuration, and desktop icons in normal places. However, no names appear below each icon. If I right click one of them with the intent to select OPEN in the menu, I receive a half menu with no options to open. I also attempted to access one of these an Excel file directly in File Explorer and get a skewed page that is very abnormal. Today, I was able to rectify this by Restarting PC which brought the desktop up in its normal appearance. I wonder what the cause of this is and if there is a preventive step that can be taken. This is a PC about 3 months old with the latest Win 10 1909 version completely updated. I run daily scans with Defender and Malwarebytes Premium with no threats detected, but have experienced quirky issues since the day this came out of the box brand new.

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

 

Windows 10 desktop icons not in order

In ccleaner, did you uncheck cleaning the icon cache... have not used in a while; however, I think that is what the option is called.

Now, if you are setting the icons and they move after you have set the settings and not changed them... you may have the "Random Windows 10 Icon movement problem".
Some people have this and some don't.
