Windows 10: Virtual (VB Cable) audio issue - kind of :)

Hi there

Hoping someone can help me with this problem.

So, I am streaming music to a server and everything is fine from that perspective, high quality, excellent, BUT I am unable to hear the music live from my laptop output (with ear buds) I can only hear via another device listening into the stream via the URL.
I have my DJ program (ots DJ) "on air" set to the virtual cable, which in turn sends the signal to Butt which encodes and sends to the server - that is all fine, but the issue with listening to the stream is that it's about 12 seconds behind the actual live event *Sad

I know I have settings in my sound section and all these different inputs and outputs etc, but I'm not sure what I should have checked here there or everywhere and wondered if someone could talk me through perhaps what I've done wrong (if anything) If what I need to do can be achieved?? (previously I tried to do the stream without the VCable and although I could hear it from my output on my laptop fine, it wouldn't send to the server because I couldn't select the sound card (Realtek HD) from the Butt interface.

I know my way around the laptop so I can take instructions well as indeed any questions that need answering...
I'm doing this mainly so that people in my community can request songs to be played to friends and loved ones whilst not being able to see them etc, and it's keeping people's spirits up, but I'd like to be able to hear what I'm doing live so that I can drop some jingles and stuff in the mix...

Thanks you for your reply, unfortunately I tried both methods that you suggested and it is still not functioning properly. I know that it must be either something from the Windows 10 update or the recent Skype update because my brother is encountering the
same issue on an entirely different Windows 10 computer. Here is a link to the software I've been using: VB-Audio page has moved

I have contacted them(creators of VB Audio Cable) directly and they are attempting to fix the issue. However, there may not be anything they can do if it's something on Windows' end. I really need this to start working properly again. Thanks.

Before I begin with my problem, let me just provide some background information. I have Windows 10 and do a lot of game capture on my pc for my YouTube channel. I often capture games while speaking with friends online. I was able to accomplish this by installing
a free driver which included a way to split different audio by using a Virtual Audio Cable. In short, I wanted a way to capture my gameplay video and audio without capturing what my friends were saying over my headset.

I accomplished this by setting the VB Cable Input as my default playback device in my sound settings, and VB Cable Output as the default recording device. I then edited the properties in VB Cable Output to "Listen" to my normal speakers. After doing this,
I was able to change my default playback device in Skype to VB Cable Input. This allowed me to separate my friends' voices from the recording I was doing. This has worked for several months, but ever since the latest update, it has stopped working.

I didn't change any settings in any of my programs. I have tinkered for hours with everything I could possibly think of, even trying other applications like TeamSpeak. I even reset all of Skype's settings to make sure something didn't change behind my back.
Having done this, I can safely assume that it is something on Windows' end. I was able to determine that this occurred after the latest update to Windows 10. Several days ago, this was working as it always has. But after the update, it has stopped working.
I have since reverted everything to how I had it before I started the tinkering. I know this can sound like a complicated and obscure issue, and that is why I felt compelled to come to the forums. I know a lot of other streamers use this method, but it is
still not a common issue. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Possible helpful Remark: In some cases, WIN10 update might re-install our audio driver (VB-CABLE or Voicemeeter VAIO) by its automatic process (instead of by our installation procedure). Consequently the audio point names and icons can be changed, possibly
disturbing the audio configuration...

So we recommend to re-install VB-CABLE (or Voicemeeter)...

REBOOT after de-installation, REBOOT after installation.

...and check your audio configuration:

- default playback device, default recording device might be changed

- communication options and default communication devices might be changed

- your app device selection might also be changed...
