    I'm running Windows 10 v1909 OS Build 18363.720.

Historically for years, in Windows Explorer, when I browse to a folder containing all photos e.g. *.jpg files, it shows the files using "Large Icons". But now all of a sudden when I browse to a folder with all photos, Windows Explorer lists them using the "Details" view. I can go to "View" and change that folder to "Large Icons", but it only applies to that folder; all the other folders still show files using "Details".

If I go into a file subtree of all photos, I can select "Customize" from the folder properties and select "Pictures", along with "Also apply this template to all subfolders". But still when I drill down to the leaf folders the folders containing only pictures, and no subfolders, they are still shown as details. Moreover if I go into "Customize" in that folder's properties, the "Optimize this folder for" selection is still on "General items". If I change it to "Pictures" and click "OK", it leaves the selection on "General items".

Oddly a few folders here and there are already set to the "Pictures" template. But other folders, even though they contain only pictures, will not allow me to change the template to "Pictures" and still say "General items", even after I try to change the template.

Why did Windows Explorer suddenly switch all my default folders to "Details" view, when I didn't change any settings? Why can't it detect the folder type and automatically switch to the "Pictures" type? Why won't it allow me to select an individual folder with pictures as the "Pictures" template?

Is this yet another bug in some recent Windows 10 update that breaks things?

    :)

  2. Windows 10 no longer DETECTs the second display.

Windows 10 no longer DETECTs the second monitor on my surface pro.

It used to detect the Dell S2440L, but I moved locations and set the second monitor up again after it being disconnected for -1- month.

It no longer detects the second monitor. Also, the driver is not listed in Device Manager/Drivers list.

File Explorer no longer lists out previously used tags in properties

Hi just to clarify - if you now add tags, is newly entered data recorded and subsequently available, or does that not work either now? I.e. have you both lost old data and the inability to record new data to be offered when you fill fields?

And are you seeing these? (Similar for photo tags).

A quick test for photo tags shows previously entered similar tags are not offered.
The options offered are - well- unfamiliar..

Windows Explorer Sort List No Longer Appears

    I'm using Win10 Anniversary Update.

After getting the Anniversary Update, I noticed that the drop-down list in Windows Explorer no longer appears when one clicks on it under "Details View." Please, see the image below:

Windows Explorer no longer uses large icons, no longer detects photos, and no longer allows... [IMG]

For example, let us say that I wanted to organize the files only by .PDF. There is now no way to see only those files, since no matter how much one clicks, the list will not appear.

This occurs for ALL of the sort lists: File Name, Date, etc.

    Can anyone advise or help?

    Thanks!
