Thinkpad Keyboard errata: What driver SHOULD be used

Having an odd problem that I need some input on. This is a pretty clean Thinkpad L560 that I setup using MS Media builder/usb Windows 10 home x64 v1909 downloading what I needed from Lenovo at time of installing/updating/etc. Personally I never saw any sort of keyboard irregularity, but I didn't type a lot of keystrokes either. Touchpad and kbd behaved as one would expect. I have personally carried Thinkpads off and on for years and not seen this sort of thing. I watched by remote teamiew as the user typed in some routine web searches etc and saw some odd things myself. Note that the user in an effort to thin down odd touches, turned off the Ultranav/touchpad and uses a logitech wireless mouse.

In Control Panel, there are Lenovo groups for Lenovo Keyboard and Lenovo Mouse/Touchpad [i think it says Lenovo Ultranav]
The Lenovo Keyboard group is null. Try to open it and you get a flash, and nothing. The driver in Device Manager is generic Msft.

Checking around my stable;, my Asus ULtrabook gets on fine with a vintage 2006 Msft Enhanced PS/2 100-102 type driver - Windows never finds a reason to update i suppose, nor do I. My very reliable Thinkpad T430 uses a generic MSFT 2006 "Standard PS/2" driver. No problems. There are no "Lenovo" groups in Control Panel.

I asked her to type up a plain txt file, one key at a time, one key at a time +Shift, etc. The only odd thing I see at all is:
qwertyuiop[]¥ [the last character I do not recognize]

Should we just uninstall both Keyboard and Touchpad and let windows 10 rediscover? cross fingers?

If Windows 10 auto-updates somehow wrote new device driver info for the keyboard and/or Trackpad since I turned it over, would that even be recorded in the history?

    thanks for your advice
    c

    :)

  3. ThinkPad 130e win 10 64bit bluethooth driver

    Hi,

Thanks for the update and the response.

Please answer the below question to help you assist better.

Did you get any error message when you were trying to download Bluetooth drivers from the link?

This might be due to the corruption of hardware and devices.

Please follow the below steps and check if it helps,

    Run hardware and Device troubleshooter

    1.
Click on the Start button, and type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar.

    2.
Click on troubleshooting, then click on “Hardware and sound”.

    3.
Under Hardware and sound, click on “hardware and devices”.

    4.
A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.

After doing the above steps I would suggest you to try downloading the Bluetooth drivers from the link again and check if it helps.

The Fn + F5 might not be working because the keyboard drivers might not be installed

Install the Windows 8.1 keyboard drivers from this link and check if it helps. If issue persist try installing in compatibility mode
