Discus and support didnt a meta "advanced power options" regfile exist at one point? in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; I could have sworn a comprehensive regfile including all the prominent advanced power options for the power advanced menu existed somewhere?     I could have sworn a comprehensive regfile including all the prominent advanced power options for the power advanced menu existed somewhere?

    I'm having little luck with google other than spatterings of one or the other here or there.

    Anyone know what im talking about, or have one stashed away?

    the one I have is from 2014 and its not comprehensive and certainly not windows 10 era.

  2. Advanced power options hidden

    Hi Leon,



    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



    I understand that you are facing issues with Advanced Power options which are greyed out. I see that you have tried some advanced troubleshooting and I certainly appreciate the efforts taken by you.



    Usually, we see this issue if the computer is configured under domain environment. Just to clarify, please let us know:

    • What is the make and model of your computer?
    • Are you facing this issue only after updating Windows 10 to the latest version?
    • Is the computer configured under domain?


    Meanwhile, let us try few steps and see if it helps.



    Note: Before proceeding, make sure to
    create a System Restore point
    on the computer



    Method 1: Restore Default Power Schemes

    Click on Search on the Taskbar and type
    CMD. Right click on Command Prompt and select the option “Run as Administrator” and press
    Enter.

    Copy and paste the command powercfg –restoredefaultschemes

    Press Enter.



    If you are using Windows 10 Pro, then



    Method 2: Check Group Policy

    Click on Search on the Taskbar and type
    gpedit.msc and press Enter.

    This should open Group Policy Editor.

    Go to Computer Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>System>>Power
    Management.

    On the right hand side you should see Specify a custom active power plan.

    Double click on it and select the option "Disabled".

    Click on OK.

    Restart the computer and check if you can access the Power Options.

  3. Windows 10 Power Options Not working

    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

    I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1: Use the hardware troubleshooter to fix the issue

    The Hardware Troubleshooter is an automated tool which will check the hardware connected to the computer for any known issues with it and provides the details and on how to fix them. Follow these steps and run the troubleshooter.
    Follow these steps:

    • Press Windows key to get the Start menu.
    • Type Troubleshooting in the search box right up corner and hit enter.
    • Click on Troubleshooting tab.
    • Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
    • Select the power options from the list.
    • Click Next to run the power Troubleshooter.
    Method 2: Also I suggest you to create a new power plan and check if it helps.

    • Go to control panel and then click on power options.
    • Then click on create new power plan.
    • Change the power plan accordingly and check.

    USB settings in Power Plan Options on Windows 10 is missing, how to restore it?

    As per the below suggested steps I am trying to disable the USB in USB selective suspend setting in my Dell laptop with Windows 10 Home. however, I do not find the USB Settings at all in two modes Balanced mode or Dell (Active) mode under change advanced
    power settings. How to restore it?

    USB Selective Suspend Settings, follow the steps below:

    1. Press Windows + X.
    2. Choose Power Options.
    3. Select Choose when to turn off the display.
    4. Open Change advanced power settings.
    5. Expand USB settings and USB selective suspend setting.
    6. Select Enabled (default) or Disabled.
    7. Click Apply, then OK.
