  1. Why does automatic sleep behave differently vs. manual sleep

I have a brand new Lenovo IdeaPad S340 connected to a dock with two monitors and wireless keyboard and mouse. My preferred configuration has the laptop off to the side with the lid closed. I would like it to go to sleep and wake on keyboard or mouse - my old laptop did this just fine

When this computer is set to sleep automatically, such as after 2 hours, when I return, the power light is off and it is completely shut down. Rather than tap the space bar or wiggle the mouse, I have to open the lid and press the power button. However, if I put it to sleep manually Windows>Power>Sleep, it behaves as expected; the power light blinks slowly and the computer wakes with the keyboard or mouse - even overnight.

    Windows 10 Home

    Version 1909

    Build 1863.752

Any help or things to try would be most appreciated.

    Thank you.

    :)

  2. Icyeros Win User

My computer's "Sleep after X" sleep is deeper than manual sleep

With Sleep after X minutes, all fans shut down. A mouse click or key press is required to wake the system. This is ideal.

When I manually sleep via the start menu, fans stay on and mouse movement wakes the system.

    powercfg -a lists this:

    Standby (S3)

    Hibernate

    Fast Startup

Automatic hibernation is off, only sleep is on in power settings.

    I'm on 16299

So, my question is, how do I manually put my computer into this deeper sleep state?
