    Hi all,

This is my first post in these forums, I don't usually post, but I just felt this information maybe an additional step that could help some people with the issue in the subject line.

My computer came up with the big annoying 'X' across it while I was troubleshooting some other issues. I had decided to get rid of and reinstall some software as part of a troubleshooting step. Unfortunately as a consequence I ended up with this further issue.

I tried all the steps online that I could find obviously from another computer including all the ones mentioned in the following link:

    https://blog.pcrisk.com/windows/126...-the-ip-protocol-stack-to-the-network-adapter but nothing fixed it.

I even tried over-writing the BIOs in case it had developed some sort of corruption since the network adapter was built in to the motherboard. Nothing worked.

Then, I remembered an issue I had had some time ago that had knocked out my network access and it relates to ZoneAlarm. It can happen through an incomplete uninstall or even a corruption of the program. either way the above fault can be the result.

If you have uninstalled ZoneAlarm and are experiencing these issues or you have this issue and notice ZoneAlarm is maxing out CPU and/or Memory then I have may have the solution for you to try first before moving on to the other steps contained in the link.

What you will need is the latest copy of ZoneAlarms uninstall program. This is seperate to the normal uninstall you do from Add/Remove a Program. Don't go searching for a copy on the Internet as it is particular to the release version of ZoneAlarm you have installed. Contact them through their online chat and explain the issue you are having. They can send you a copy of the uninstall program that will clean your machine of any left-over elements of the program. This resolved my issue immediately, Network connectivity was immediately restored.

If for whatever reason you can't get a copy of this program the other option to try is uninstalling ZoneAlarm and then freshly reinstalling the program if you have a local copy of the software. This is known to resolve the issue as well. After a certain release ZoneAlarm became an install from the web option only. If you don't have a local copy, you can again ask their online chat and once they confirm you have a valid license they will provide you with a local install file.

This possible fix obviously only relates to you if you have ZoneAlarm and have either recently uninstalled it or are having issues with resource utilisation from the ZoneAlarm product.

I hope this helps some of you.

    :)

Windows couldn’t automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter

I have an HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G3 laptop. Today I've found out that all my network adapters don't work — I can see WiFi Networks and when connecting i have Limited connexion for all cards aven for mobile
or shared connexion via my mobile. The last time it worked fine for sure was two days ago and no updates for winndos during the last 3 days,

Windows troubleshooting gives me the following error:

Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter

I've found several similar topics on the Internet, but no solution works for me. Here's the list of what I've done with no success:

    1. Re-installed the drivers with lastest update from manufacturer website
    2. Reset the TCP/IP stack (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357).
    3. Run "netsh winsock reset".
    4. Disabled the IP Helper service.
    5. Disabled IPv6 on all my adapters.
    6. Disabled and then enabled the adapters in the device manager.
    7. Added the DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle flag to the registry.
None of the above seems to have any effect, symptoms are still the same. I'm unable to find anything else on the Internet and out of ideas myself. Any help is highly appreciated.
