  1. My voice sounds robotic?

The last couple of weeks, I've being using my HP laptop for zoom and Skype calls but sometimes, my voice suddenly sounds very robotic. At times, when that happens, I hear the voices of other people in a robotic way too. The laptop also start freezing when it does that. I have to restart it in order to temporarily fix that issue but it usually happens again after a while.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver and updating the laptop but nothing.

What am I supposed to do as this interferes with my job?

  3. My voice sounds like a robot, what to do?

I have some audio software problem that makes my podcast recordings to sound like a bat fifties sci-fi robot made them.

Listen to mic test here at pCloud (no download needed)

I have no idea where to start to sort this out. There are probably no hardware problems since it sometimes works after a computer restart.

Anyone with the knowhow about sound drivers and settings in windows this is your time to shine My voice sounds robotic? ;)

The background tech info is here:

    • Operating system Windows 10
    • Recording software Audacity (It sounds the same in other programs as well)
    • Soundcard Focusrite Scarlett Solo (Converts analogue to digital)
    • Mic connected to the Focusrite is a ElectroVoice RE20

Is there some way to get eSpeak to speak with a non-robotic voice?

I've been using (or trying to use) eSpeak for a number of years now. I have it working, but it sounds like a cheap 1980s standard "robot speak" module -- nothing at all resembling a human being.

However, I seem to recall Windows (10) shipping with built-in voices, which sound much more realistic. However, they seem to be restricted for use by Microsoft programs, such as "Narrator".

Is there some way to get eSpeak to recognize/be able to use those voices? I have read the eSpeak manual about this many times but can't find any relevant information on this. I have also searched many times for something better, or even a way to make Windows speak with its built-in voices from the command line, which would bypass the need to use eSpeak entirely.

I wanna be able to do something like:

I'm sick of that cold, dead robot speaking to me. It sounds eerie. I want a calm, relaxing voice, and no, I'm not going to use Cortana or any other spyware. This is simply for enabling me to have the computer speak my own text strings on demand. Thanks in advance.
