  1. Windows 10 speech recognition issue - language UK English

I have spent the whole day trying to get the Windows 10 speech recognition to work. I keep getting a message something like the "the recogniser language and interface language must match". So I have gone all through the Settings and Control Panel and changed every language instance I could find to English UK. But still, if I try to open the Speech Recognition app, it flashes the same message and then quits. I would be grateful for any help or solution for this very frustrating issue that must surely be a Windows 10 bug of some kind.

    No speech recognition at all

Hi, this may be of interest:
Installing additional language packs for Windows 10 speech recognition random ranting

This has downloads, + a complete list of languages availablefor Win 10:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=27224
    (but note the date)

fwiw I just tried it- my locale, speech, display language etc are set to UK English. (Which took some doing this time, or something was slightly messed up).

If I type speech in Cortana's search box, say, I get Windows Speech Recognition as top search.

I use Classic Shell, with the Control Panel expanded, so in a second or less I can see 'Speech Recognition' listed there.

Similarly, if I type 'Speech' in Settings I can easily see Speech Recognition.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the speech recognition bar displayed, task manager shows:
    SpeechRuntime.exe in C:\Windows\System32\Speech_OneCore\Common ..........

    sapisvr.exe in C:\Windows\Speech\Common

    running.

    Some (older) search results:

    - maybe there's an updated one here (see Tutorials).

There are a couple of helpful links at the end of this (but Win 7 again)

Can't change speech language to English (India).

    hi

today I installed win 10 1511 version and faced the same problem, the issue is just that we didn't installed the speech recognition for English India language pack.

to install the speech recognition follow the steps

    • go to time and language and then click on region and
      language
    • click on the English India language and click on options.
    • under the language options download the Speech pack.
    • after the feature has installed you can change the speech language from English us to English IN and Cortana runs efficiently

Windows 10 speech recognition issue - language UK English

Need English (US) Speech Recognition but have only English (UK)

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community. I understand that you have an issues setting US English in Speech Recognition. I will surely help you with this.

It is not possible to change just the speech recognition language. Windows Speech Recognition is available only when the language of the operating system matches the language of Windows Speech Recognition. You can change the language of the operating
system by installing a language pack from Windows Update. If you install the language pack of a supported Windows Speech Recognition language, you can then use Windows Speech Recognition for that language if that is also the language of the operating system.

I suggest you to refer the article and check if you are setting everything correctly or not.

    Note: Applies to Windows 10.

Hope this information helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of the issue so that we can assist you further.
