  1. Sudden blue screen - driver related? Settings acting weird

    Hello,

I just played my usual session of poker.
Before the session already something weird was going on - the system showed no graphic card driver was installed, despite there being one installed obviously, as before. But well, it all worked as usual.
Anyways, I played online-poker for a few hours and suddenly I got a blue screen "Video tdr failure". I rebooted the computer, 2 minutes later blue stripes appear on the screen, screen gets worse and worse, until it would just blue-screen again.
I then Googled some solutions and found this is most of the time driver related. I already had the latest driver available installed though 1st April 2020 despite it showing there is none installed.
I then reverted back to old driver and downloaded new one again, rebooted computer, it now would only launch in 1280x960 resolution and 1024x768 resolution being recommended despite it normally running higher.
Then I reverted back to the older driver which is from sometime 2016, and it has set back to the usual resolution instantly.
I have now a YouTube video running for 1 hour just so that the graphic card has to do some work and there are no issues as of yet. The graphic card has only been in use for roughly 2 months despite it being an old model, but I use the computer just for grinding and watching videos pretty much so did not feel to go deep in terms of money so I kind of dismiss that it already broke. I still have the old 2016-driver set now.

How can this happen? Is it likely that the graphic card indeed already broke and that it's just by chance it's running now? What was also weird, with the most recent driver, for some reason, I had to disconnect my USB WLAN stick and plug back in all the time after I rebooted after the first blue-screen, I rebooted roughly 10 times in total to get an internet connection. Now with the old driver, this also worked instantly without having to plug it out and back in. I did however use the recent April 2020 driver for over a month without any issues now.

I kind of am a little scared to keep playing on this machine and fear it will just blue-screen in game again. Is there anything else I can do to test it's functionality extensively eg. see if blue screens might still occur, for whatever reason?

    My system:
    -Win10
    - i7 3770
    - 8GB RAM
    - Radeon 6900HD

Appreciate any feedback on this situation.

    :)

    NETBIOS.SYS Blue screen

New here I'd suggest to follow
BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums
Add your system specs and dump.

I am here due to my own issue, I don't know a lot about this field though I'd like to add some suggestions if I may. In no way will I be offended if you choose to look passed my advice as I'm not certified or have a high understanding in such areas...

A quick google search derived of your statements lead me to:
    "Causes of Netbios.sys Errors
    • Incorrectly configured, old, or corrupted MSDN Disc 5 device drivers. (very common)

    • Corruption in Windows registry from a recent netbios.sys-related software change (install or uninstall).
    • Virus or malware infection that has corrupted the netbios.sys file or related MSDN Disc 5 program files.
    • Hardware conflict after installing new Microsoft hardware, or hardware related to netbios.sys.
    • Damaged or removed system files after you’ve installed software or drivers related to MSDN Disc 5.
    • netbios.sys blue screen caused by a damaged hard disk.
    • netbios.sys STOP error due to memory (RAM) corruption."

From this (and a couple other searches) I would suggest... Updating drivers. Memtest86 being ran. If you have Mcafee, uninstalling it and using MSSE and/or malwarebytes (running a scan). Running the command "sfc /scannow" as admin in cmd.

I hope this is able to aid you in some way, pleasant computing.
