Windows 10: C Drive suddenly has no space

So here's some backstory:

Around a week ago, I checked the amount of space my C drive (windows) had, and it had around 46 GB. Also, during this time, the number of GB it had was constantly changing, even if I haven't downloaded or updated anything at all.

But the changes were so minor that I didn't pay any attention to it.

However, today when I checked how much space I had left, apparently I only have 25 GB left. So my question is where did the 20 GB go? I did some looking through, and there is a folder called Windows, and it takes up 40GB by itself. Is that normal? Also I cannot find any other file in my c drive that is remotely as large as the windows folder. Any tips on how to gain more space?

Unallocated Space to C Drive

Hi Travis,

It appears that a disk partition was created but was never assigned its allocation. Assuming there are no files stored in the unallocated partition, perform these steps to combine it with your C: drive:

• In Disk Management, right-click on (C which appears next to the
  Unallocated partition.
  
• Select Extend.

Let us know if you're able to combine the spaces after following the steps above.

C drive suddenly has less total space on it, and D drive suddenly has more total space

So, I'm supposed to have 1TB total space on my laptop, but recently, when I checked, it said that I had 558GB of total space. That is not how much is filled, that is the total overall. On top of that, my D drive started out only having around 20 GB or
so of space, and it suddenly has 300 GB of space. What is going on?
