    Controller Plug and Play issue/bug


    Hello, I'm experiencing a bug/issue where after I plug in my ps4 controller to play some automatic plug and play games like Sea of Thieves for a few seconds the controller will lock whatever direction I'm turning and movement input. So basically it will lock my movements for up to 5 seconds some time and my RGB stuff flashes and my audio cuts out. I can't find a forum or help on this since its too hard to describe. After the issue, everything just goes back to normal and it occurs may be anywhere from 10-25 minutes later but can be sooner. I also hear a windows noise whenever it happens so I don't know if its another application affecting my gameplay and controller. This only occurs when I plug my controller in and not when just using keyboard and mouse.


    Please help I've had this issue for months with no success.

    Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

    I would suggest you to stop the plug and play service and again start the service and check the status of this issue. Follow the steps below to stop the Plug and Play service.


    • Press Windows Key + R key

    • Type “Services.msc” and press Enter

    • Right click on Plug and Play and click on stop

    • Again start the service.

  3. DTS Audio Control and headphone plug

    Hi Terry,

    This issue with the DTS Audio Control can be caused by system corruption on the application itself. As an initial troubleshooting step, we suggest that you uninstall the application. Here's how:

    • Type DTS in the search field at the task bar.
    • Right-click on the DTS Audio Control in the results.
    • Click Uninstall.
    • Once done, proceed with installing it back.

    You can also check out with HP as the manufacturer of this application for any updated drivers that can help to resolve the issue.

    You may try to plug in the headphone again once the issue has been resolved. If it is the same, try a different headphone and let us know about the results.

    Computer Won't Auto Change the Playback Device When Headphones Plugged In/Out

    Hi Michael,

    I understand your concern and will be happy to assist you.

    Is the issue specific to only Headphones/ Does External Speaker play when plugged in?

    I suggest you to try resetting the default device as shown in the steps given below and check if the issue persists.


    • Plug in the Headphones in the machine.

    • Go to Start and Control Panel.

    • Select 'Hardware and Sound'.

    • Click 'Change system sounds'.

    • Click 'Playback' tab. (It should then show you your headphones in the list).

    • Select your proper Headphone device from the list, then Click 'Set Default'.

    • Now unplug your Headphones and select speakers from the list, then Click 'Set Default'.
