Windows 10: Some of the program are not found when searching on search function

I am finding myself in this situation where I can't seem to find the ordinary app that I use on the search, I have few programs like signal, simplenote and java eclipse that was easily accessible through search function. They are not showing, just the installation file. Even though they are installed, it does not pull exe file of the progarm

I have updated latest version of malwarebytes. Other than that, There nothing new

Btw, I haven't downloaded any recent windows revision update, I am running 1909, 1863.900

Looking for Website search engine submitting program

I just made a website and was looking for a good program that would submit my website to most of the major search engines.

If someone could please list some FREE ones as well as pay ones it would be nice. Thanks

 

Windows Search can't open some apps / OS functions

This is driving me crazy. To start apps I am used to hit the windows key, punch the first few letters for the app and press enter ( so no mouse). Since a few weeks this does not work for all apps anymore. I do get search results but when I hit enter nothing
happens.

To be clear: all apps are found, I just can't launch them. Apps affected are Evernote, MP3tag but also OS functions like "create and format harddisk partitions"

Also when the search results come up, and enter does not work, I also cannot lanch the app by mouseclick.

Strangely going to the start menu and finding the icon there does work. So just not via windows key - search.

Clueless why this is happening, and why just to some apps / functions

What have I tried so far

• reinstalling the affected apps
• uninstalling the apps, looking for traces on the drive/registry, removing them and then reinstalling
• I found some other posts on missing apps in search that suggested setting all language settings to United states, which I did
• Checking I have all windows updates
• disabling all other running programs
• found a link to a powershell command that reinstalls some components. It gets me some additional apps in the start menu but no fix
• sfc / scannow
• experimented a bit with placing shortcuts to the apps in the various folder locations
• there is a troubleshooting for indexing somewhere, tried that as well

Seems like reset is the only next step, but without understanding this/what caused this I hesitate, don't want to reinstall only to have this again next week

 

My search is not functioning

1. Use the shortcut Ctrl-Shift-Esc to open the Task Manager.
2. If you see only a handful programs listed by it click on the "more details" link.
3. Locate "Cortana" under background processes.
4. Right-click on the process and select "end task" from the context menu.

The Cortana process is reloaded right away by the operating system.
