Windows 10: Windows Update Error encountered and Direct X issues

I have Windows 10 version 2004, with version Direct X 12 installed.

1. Update

I keep trying to add the latest update through settings but I keep getting the Error that says "A current driver on your PC may be better than the driver we're trying to install."

2. Direct X

I have Steam installed on my laptop, but the games I want to install say "Installing Microsoft Direct X" then "DirectX Runtime required." UE4 Prerequisite popped up on one game, but when I tried to install it gave me error code 0x80070643


I have tried the Update Troubleshooter in Settings but it found no issues. I downloaded the Reset Windows Update Tool, but the Command Box says "You are not running as Administrator. This tool cannot do it's job without elevation. You need to run this tool as Administrator." However, I am listed as Administrator with an Administrator Microsoft account for my device according to Settings. I checked "Device Manager" but it showed no issues. I did the DISM and sfc /scannow commands in the Command Prompt and it did not change anything. I tried installing Direct X directly from Microsoft, but the dxwsetup.exe would say Error. I would also get a pop up that said "An internal system error occurred. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine problem" I checked the Registry Editor but could not find out what the data numbers for Installedversion SHOULD be so I left them unchanged. I tried turning firewall off and installing but it didn't work so I turned it back on. I do not have an antivirus activated on my laptop.


I have been trying to fix this for three days straight and Windows Get Help keeps crashing every time the minute after I'm connected with a Windows Advisor.

Okay so,

I'm not running any overlay software.

The issue is consistent, as in every time I complete a mission, the game crashes instead of going into the next cutscene.

There are no errors when I run dxdiag.

I'm about to reinstall direct X, update, and see if that changes anything..

  Type dxdiag in the run prompt and hit enter.

  Now check for the version of Direct x.

My graphics hardware doesn't support the new version 12 direct x. How do I roll direct x back to 11?

I suggest you to follow the steps to roll back the direct x from the below link and check if it helps.

• Press “Windows+X”.
• Click on Device Manager.
• Locate and Expand the Display Adapter.
• Right-click on the Display Device.
• Click on Rollback.
