Windows 10: Surface Laptop 3 Notifications Being Marked As Read

Hi all,


I just got this laptop a few days ago after years of working with a Linux, and then Mac interface, so I'm taking some time getting used to Windows. I've noticed that with my laptop, I've got Facebook Messenger desktop notifications enabled, however something kind of weird happens when they pop up. The actual laptop notification has no issues the banner comes up, and the information stays in the notification bar, however, by the time I open my Messenger tab on browser Google Chrome, the message thread has been marked as read i.e. isn't bold before I've even opened it. What's even weirder is that the chat heads on my mobile stack conversation notifications, even though I've read and replied to them on browser. I'm not too sure if this second part makes much sense, so I'll try to word it in another way. When the chat head for Messenger comes up on my phone, the red bubble with the number of unread messages counts the number of messages received by that person, despite me having read and responded to them on my laptop browser. I've never had this issue with my Mac, so I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this issue, and/or if it can be fixed in any way.

Boot Surface Laptop to USB - no Volume button

This doesn't list the "Surface Laptop", but you might give it a try to see.

Otherwise, you should be able to use OPTION ONE below to boot from the USB from advanced startup.

Surface Laptop 3 with external monitor

Hi All,

Has anyone come across an issue with an external monitor blacking out while connected to a Surface Laptop 3? I have the laptop connected to a widescreen laptop with the Surface Dock. Both work fine however, once every hour or so the external monitor blacks out and comes back.

I've completed the following:

• Updated laptop drivers and firmware
  • Updated monitor drivers
  • Swapped out monitor

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.
