  1. WiFi inexplicably drops, multiple Wireless Networks reported for single SSID

I'm having a few issues with an Asus USB-AC53 Nano 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wifi dongle that I'm trying to troubleshoot, but there is scant documentation about the properties found on the Advanced Tab. I'm posting here on the Microsoft board because I'm suspicious that Windows MAY be playing a role since I'm also seeing what appears to be two representations of the same Wireless Access point on my network.

Question 1 - ASUS USB-AC53 Nano Advanced Settings

I've looked through all the basic configuration parameters and they were fine. I've not started in the Advanced Tab of the Adapter settings. I know about most of these settings but there are a few that I've not been able to find definitions for:

AdaptivityPara might be the replacement for EnabledAdaptivity

    EnableAdaptivity

    HLDiffForAdaptivity

    L2HForAdaptivity

I'm hoping someone might shed some light on this. I'm looking for an authoritative reference defining these 4 parameters specifically and I've also posted on the Asus board. I'm not looking for any troubleshooting advice. I have done plenty of that quite successfully but, without some understanding of these parameters AND the other anomaly, I can't get any further.

Question 2 - Multiple Access Points offered in Windows for a single, actual Access Point

This is a curious issue. I have created a 5Ghz 802.11 ac network called NAME5 with a hidden SSID. NAME is a replacement for my last name which I omit for privacy. My name is very unusual, yet short so it is very unlikely that there is a duplicate SSID, hidden or visible here.

It is a very crowded WiFi space in an apartment building. I realize this can be problematic, but I've luckily found a channel that nobody seems to be using so my connections aren't getting hammered with collisions. Even with that, the obvious answer to being dropped after about 30 minutes of connection is traffic. But, it's so predictable that after 30 minutes it drops so I'm not sure that's all of it. I have already disabled the power option that allows the OS to power off the device and I've disabled that ability in Windows Power Options as well. And, for good measure, disabled it in the Sony configurations too. So I'm feeling confident that isn't stopping the connection.

But there's this niggling little weirdness If I hover the cursor over the wireless icon, it will display that I'm connected to "NAME5 2 Internet Access". But when I click the wireless icon in the tray to see what Wireless Networks are around, it shows a connection to "NAME5 Connected, Secure". I scoured the registry and indeed found an entry for each one of them with different Parameter data for each.

    :)

Failing to see 5GHZ SSID wifi network

    This:
would lead me to conclude that the laptop only has a single band WiFi adapter. Is there a specific model WiFi adapter listed under Network Adapters in Device Manager?

Windows 10 not remembering password on hidden SSID (and not automatically connecting). Also previously used (saved) hidden networks do not show the SSID in the wifi list (just says hidden network).

Step 1: Connect manually to the hidden SSID network.

Step 2: Open Network and Sharing Center by right clicking on the wifi icon on the bottom right side of your desktop.

Step 3: Click on the name of your wifi connection.

Step 4: When the "Wi-Fi Status" box opens, click on "Wireless Properties".

Step 5: Check the box for "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)"

    Enjoy!!!

  4. WiFi inexplicably drops, multiple Wireless Networks reported for single SSID

    Can not find wireless network!

Install a tool called visstumblar, you can see if a network is actually there. By chance if you turned SSID broadcast off, you would not see it in the wifi list. But if you use a scanner you will see it. You can then join it by entering the SSID name manually into your computer.
