Windows 10: taskbar right click context menu doesn't work

Strange issue I've been having with my PC (Windows 10 home V2004 (19041.388 with Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2202.130.0)). On the taskbar, I can right click date, start and task view/search/task bar itself and get a context menu for those. However, if I right click any pinned shortcuts, no context menu comes up at all. Any suggestions? (more notes/details below)



Some comments of things I've tried or other notes:

• the usual three finger salute, and also just restarting windows explorer (no joy)
• patching (up to date as of today, but this issue happened both before and after latest patch). I did update to v2004 on 6/10 which may or may not have been when this started happening...
• unfortunately, I can't pin this to any particular event or update. I don't use the function too often, so it might have been a patch or event that happened that I didn't notice for a few weeks or more. But I'd say I lost this functionality in the last 1-2 months.
• disable displayfusion (which apparently doesn't manage the primary taskbar anyway (and right click context worked on those before I turned it off, and then didn't work on all three [windows task bars] when I did turn it off. (no joy) So it seems specific to windows task bar.
• re-indexed search (which someone else suggested) and checked that function; double checked my microsoft account, and perused various settings for anything obvious. (no joy)
• I do note that I get an unhelpful error in event log that gets logged every time I do right click for the context menu: "Unable to start a DCOM Server: Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost_10.0.19041.1_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy!App as Unavailable/Unavailable. The error: "2147958016" Happened while starting this command: "C:\Windows\SystemApps\ShellExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\ShellExperienceHost.exe" -ServerName:App.AppXtk181tbxbce2qsex02s8tw7hfxa9xb3t.mca". Googling has turned up nothing useful so far.
• context in other things (file explorer, etc) seems to work fine, including in Program Files.

Any suggestions welcome other than re-install / reset (which of course I'd rather not do). Thanks for any pointers.

Feature suggestion: Add right-click menu

Suggestion: Please add a Windows 7 Jump-List and/or right-click menu to the GPU-Z icon in the Windows taskbar. Possible menus in it would be "Exit" and "About GPU-Z...".
Maybe also "Switch to tab 1/Switch to tab 2/Switch to videocard 1/Switch to videocard 2" too.
Examples of programs that have such menus are ICQ, Skype, AIM.

NOTE: It seems for a right-click menu, Windows 7 is not needed - it works on WinXP and Vista too.
But even a Windows 7 Jump-list may be good enough.
What do you think?

 

My right click context menu not working!

I got windows 10.

My right click context menu not working! When I right click my taskbar icons. it doesn't show anything in the menu, only a box. it doesn't show properties cut or paste or anything like that. thanks!

 

Right-click context menu "Run as Administrator" not working

I have the same problem but mine is limited to right clicking the start menu. I can right click everything else and it works correctly, but if I right click the start menu, it doesn't open the context menu and the cursor shifts just a little diagonally to
the top right. I've tried the suggestions above and the new account works fine and the SFC scan came up with nothing wrong.

Edit- also Winkey + X doesn't bring open the context menu either
