Windows 10: Start,Settings, Time and Date not working after a faulty update

I wasn't able to update my PC for a long time then i decided to update it but it gut stuck to 99% while on the Windows Update Assist so i decided to cancel it. After that i shut down my PC then the next day i decided to play games then i was shocked because there were no sound, i checked the condition of my headset and its in perfect condition.I tried to troubleshoot the sound problem but it did not work. Then i troubleshooted the problem again a few days later and it worked.


Next problem was that my Start button didn't work, i tried using the ms config and typed start ms:setting on the black screen but a notification showed up saying that the file cannot be found make sure i typed it correctly something like that.


After another few days i decided to once again update it and the Getting Windows Ready phase by Windows Update Assist was successful then it want's me to restart so i restarted my PC, Halfway there 52% it froze so i force shut downed it but the next thing i know was dot's circling then under that was a note saying Undoing Changes To Your PC. Then i shut downed it multiple times i don't know how many times but it still showed Undoing Changes To Your PC but for a very short time then my sign in screen showed up but before that there was transparent grey block with a text saying HI then another one that i cannot remember then the next thing i noticed was that my PC is login in then next my desktop but still my Start, Settings, even my Store, and my Date and time isn't working.

Is there a solution without resetting my PC? If so Thank You!!!

Outlook Out of date Settings

• Are you referring to Office Outlook (Mail client version)/ Mail app/ Windows Live Mail?
• What is the complete error message/ error code of this issue?
• What is the exact issues you are facing?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the issue?

If you are referring to Windows Mail app, let us try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to check if there are any updates for Mail app in Windows Store. If found try to update the app.

Step 2: I suggest you to run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter,
troubleshoots problems that may prevent Windows Store Apps from working correctly.

Step 3: I suggest you to check with the system Date, time and Time zone
is set correct.

Follow the steps to set the date and time:

• Type Date and Time in the search bar.
• Click Change date and time button.
• Click Apply and Ok to save the date and time.

Note: Click on the Time Zone tab to check the Time Zone.

Date/Time

Hi Allison, thanks for your question. I'm Graeme, a fellow Microsoft user.

Could I get you to try changing your time zone to another country, then changing it back to your own? This might reset the date and time settings.

Here are the steps:

- Click Start and type "date".

- Click on Date & Time settings

- Change your timezone to something else, then close the settings app. Open it to the same place again, then change your timezone back to what it should be.

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Windows Time service.

- Click Start and type "services.msc".

- Click the first result.

- Find Windows Time in the list, right-click it and click Restart.

Date and Time

I suggest you to change the Date and Time format from Control Panel and check. Also select the time zone as UTC-5.00 Eastern Time.


After changing the setting, I suggest you to set “Windows Time” service as automatic. Follow the steps provided below.

• Press Windows logo Key + R key.
• Type services.msc
• Right click on Windows Time service.
• Select Properties.
• Under startup type drop down, change it to Automatic.
• Click on Apply button and OK button.

Restart your computer and check.
