  1. Windows 10 Enterprise 1909 still no 2004 update

It's August there's still no sign of the 2004 update (at least for me) I've been manually checking for Updates everyday for the past 2 months and my hardware isn't that old..

Hardware : Intel Core i7-8700 + Gigabyte Z370 HD3 motherboard with updated BIOS to the latest

    OS : Windows 10 Enterprise 1909 (OS Build 18363.959)

Not sure if the Enterprise edition is the reason why I still can't get the update, I've read that a lot of Pro users already have it.

  2. Windows 10 Enterprise wont update from build 1909 to the May 2004

We have a number of machines running Windows 10, 64 bit Professional. What I do is download the Windows Update Assistant which tells you that you are running 1909 and offers to update to 2004. It downloads, verifies, installs, restarts, tells you about the
updates and WinVer shows build 2004. Splendid!

But there is one machine, which is on a domain, and says it is running Windows 10 Enterprise build 1909. I performed the above procedure, and it seems to go fine (downloads, installs, restarts), no errors or warnings, but finally when the machine restarts,
it does not tell you anything different and WinVer still shows as running 1909. As if you never ran the update tool.

I have tried using a non domain account, and also deleted this registry key HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate, but still no explanation or error message.

Is there any sort of log file that one can examine for the 2004 update to see why it didnt actually update?

Is this caused by it being Windows 10 Enterprise? If so, can I switch to Professional somehow (without reinstalling), or download an image to a USB key and boot and update from that? (I know that updating Windows 7 Enterprise to Windows 10 required this,
and then you had to remove other images from the ISO, painful). Or is there a "force the update" option? I am pretty sure the previous windows update tool that updated to 1909 ran fine and update the enterprise machine without issue too, so hopefully this
wont be an issue now. Maybe you can only update really old Enterprise Windows 10 builds when the old build is no longer supported?

(Our IT cannot push the update though via sort of domain tool.)

User.000 issue after updating to 1909

I'm one of the many people suffering from issues with user profiles after applying Update 1909 to Windows 10. I've read all the threads I can find on the topic here and have followed the suggestions, all to no avail. Any other thoughts are appreciated.

After applying Update 1909, the ProfileImagePath was changed to c:\users\User.000
One file that was always in use and couldn't be removed was left in c:\users\User (can't recall or find the exact file now), so I could never rename or remove the c:\user\User directory.

I followed the multiple suggestions from Brink and others:
    • Rebooted at least 6 times
    • Enabled hidden Administrator
    • Booted into Safe Mode
    • Changed ProfileImagePath
    • Tried to rename c:\users\User but couldn't because a file was still in use
    • Copied all data from c:\users\User.000 into c:\users\User
    • Rebooted and had temporary profile
    • Followed steps in Brink tutorial to change ImageProfilePath; rebooted with no change
    • Restored using Restore Point from before Update 1909 - returned to single profile state (User.000)
    • Removed each update that was installed individually and rebooted after each update removal - profile state never changed
    • After all updates were removed, repeated the steps above with hidden Administrator, changing profile, etc. - same issue with file in use in c:\users\User
    • Followed all steps above with hidden Administrator but without copying files from User.000 to User - same results

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
