Windows 10: JPG photos locked after favouriting

I'm on Windows 10 Enterprise.

I was viewing .JPG images on my computer from a compact flash card using the 'Photo' app. I was favouriting some of them using the heart icon and deleting the others, however, I noticed then when I favourited a photo it would come up with a padlock item over the .JPG file.

I have now unfavourited the photos but the padlock icon remains and I cannot now view these files in my camera when I put the flash card back in.


How do I get rid of this lock icon?


I have right-clicked and compared the properties of a padlocked and un-padlocked file and they appear exactly the same.

We appreciate your response, Roy. Since there was no changes has been made on the computer, we suggest that you repair the
Photo viewer and see if it'll fix the issue. Here are the steps on how:

• Click on Start menu, then type in Apps and features.
• Look for Photo on the list, then select Repair.
• Close the windows, then try to open a .jpg file again in Photo viewer.

Lock screen photo

To change the
lock screen photo, follow these steps:

• 
  Go to
  Settings.
  
• 
  Choose
  Personalization.
  
• 
  On the left side of the screen, click on
  Lock screen.
  
• 
  In the
  Background, change it to
  Picture.

Photo's JPG size reduction

WOW! I just learned something new and important for editing my photos.

You provided me with excellent quick steps to re-size the photo.

To play it safe, I made a copy of the original photo and performed your editing steps on the copied photo. I assume that by keeping the original photo . . . the higher MBs photo, I will be able to have large prints made in high resolution.

To e-mail photos for viewing only, the re-sized photo is the best way.

Regarding your first possible suggestion of an E-mail app that provides an option to automatically reduce the JPG size, my e-mail app/program is Microsoft Outlook 2016. If it's okay with you, I'd appreciate your step-by-step procedure to re-size photos.
