    Disk usage 100% constantly.. "Service Host: Windows Event Log" seems to be the culprit.


    Recently, my disk usage has constantly been at 100% in Task Manager. Computer is generally decent, but is slow to open everything. I re-sorted the list and saw that a process called "Service Host: Windows Event Log" was hogging a lot of resources.


    Like.. a lot.

    I'm not completely stupid when it comes to using technology, so I popped open the Event Viewer to see what was up. In theApplication log, I'm constantly getting an "Information" event with theevent ID of 1001. It fills up almost all the log.

    In the System log, I constantly get event7031 and 7024.


    7031 Details: "The WMIs service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 times. The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service."


    7024 Details: "The WMIs service terminated with the following service-specific error: The system cannot find the path specified."


    After digging around the Application log some more, it seems that I'm missing a "wlanext.exe". However, DISM and SFC don't notice this, so what am I supposed to do?

    Thank you for your reply.

    Have you tried check if the issue occurs in safe mode\clean boot?

    If not, I suggest you to follow the steps suggested to boot into safe mode and check.

    If the problem does not exist in safe mode, try to perform a clean boot (from the
    link you have provided) and check.

    I am having persistent problems with 100% disk usage...I have disabled Service host superfetch and windows search to no avail, any suggestions?
